Guest guest
Meg, I think sometimes it is easier for us to play and do therapy at the same time because we spend more time with them but I think the sometimes the dads just want fun bonding time. I do think it would be nice if they work the therapy into but I don't think the kids have to be doing therapy every minute of the day-they need a break too. and Kennedy ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
Dear Meg I think you have to see Dan's time with Teddy as a different sort of stimuli and a different sort of therapy.....I mean sounds a lot like Dan, he doesn't do any of the specific exercises with Isaac but they do so much other stuff that is just as useful. Isaac has quite a lot of people in his life and I notice that they all do things differently and so I have given up trying to get them to do it 'my way' and instead see it as, the more different interactions the better. I am in Dans corner on this one - ! Kate and Isaac
Guest guest
Dear Kim, Thanks for the suggestion about having therapists come when Dan is home. I don't think Teddy's therapists will come in the evening, but I have been thinking about asking Dan to come home during the day (he is in a family business which is located only five minutes from our house) on occasion to see what happens at these " mysterious " sessions. You're right, he probably feels excluded already from Teddy's therapies. Once again, I feel I should apologize for complaining; I know not all husbands are as involved in their childrens' care as Dan is. It has been a really long day. We had Teddy at the children's hospital for a complete developmental and physical evaluation today. The team was really impressed, since they hadn't seen him for six months. He's changed a lot developmentally, and his size has jumped from the fifth to the seventieth percentile (since the feeding tube was placed last August)! Then we took him for a hearing test, which he bombed. It was an hour and a half past his nap time, and his was alternating between crying and nodding off during the test. Afterwards, the audiologist seemed to think he was profoundly deaf. I tried to make her understand that he is not deaf, he was exhausted. Needless to say, we're rescheduling the test to get a better sense of how Teddy's hearing is. I think it's fine, and so do his doctors, but of course we want to make sure he hears the full range of sounds and tones. Take care of your Teddy!
