So just talked to ENT who did my surgery 3 weeks ago. She scoped me again last week, when I was complaining of right ear ache and feeling a little infected. She thought things looked clear, except for a mucous plug in my right sphenoid. She sent it to the lab and it came back positive for Pseudomonas. The good news is she identified the bug. The bad news...it's resistant to every single oral abx they tried. And they tried everything I've ever heard of. So she's recommending betadine rinses 2 x daily. Otherwise, it's i.v. drugs in hospital. (she said that as if I think it's a bad thing, which I don't when it comes to abx treatment). But I'll give the betadine a try first even though all my research has always said you can't kill it without at least 2 abx. And hopefully in the future I'll have some credibility with her when I say I feel like I'm getting infected, even if

things "look" fine. Still no fungal growth. Well see if the new tests turn up anything. Tony, you nailed this pseudomonas over 2 years ago. Apparently, I've cleared the staph and strep and p. acnes with the drugs I've been on, but I cannot shake the pseudomonas. Hard to believe this one bug is capable of so much illness. Then again who knows what's still in my jaw? Can't wait to get that biopsied again, IF I can find someone to do it now that Dr. Odell is dead. But at least I'm working on getting these sinuses cleared. The other thing I have to say is that this Betadine Rinse burned like hell! God, it's painful. I could feel it burning throughout my entire head. Places I didn't know existed were on fire. So at least I know the betadine's getting in there. I immediately felt a difference in my head

after the rinse. Like an opening up, especially on the right side. But I couldn't do the full litre. I got perhaps 3 oz in before giving up. I'm adding some salt to their recipe, see if that eases the burning next time. I also wanted to say I think your betadine baths are a really good idea, especially after reading that website yesterday talking about how easily skin bacteria can do serious damaging once they have access to your insides. penny
