Hi all,

I'm a new member.I'm a fat man.My BMI is 34.1 which makes me I

guess obese.I'm 5'8 " tall and weigh 224,which basically means that I'm

about 70 pounds overweight.Over the last six weeks or so I have been

walking, but my thighs continue to hurt, especially so when I've walked

at least, for me, too far.Eight years ago I had an arthroscopy on my

left knee.Every now and then I get some pain in that area.I recently

had it x-rayed and the knee bone seems to scrape another bone in that

area that is causing the pain.Other than that I have no more torn

meniscus.I take Glucosamine and Chondroitin and fish oil softgel

supplements among other medications for other medical problems.I guess

the next thing for me to do is to buy a pedometer.

welcome david. knee problems are a serious bother. have you tried

swimming or water aerobics? the cold water at my gym gets to me

sometimes, but i found the class to be very helpful for me.

also, do you have access to something like an elliptical? this can be

more gentle on your knees than walking.

where do you walk? walking on cement is the hardest on the body, is

there somewhere with a spongy surface or deep woodshavings?

you've made a great start with the walking, hoping to get out there today.
