Guest guest
Hello all, Nagpur was warm for this time of the year as usual. But what struck me most were the roads, wide with flyovers and all (I have mentioned this in one of my last messages). Rani Jhansi square without her statue. I am sure we all remember the bottleneck traffic between Sita Bardi square and Panchsheel square? That was a pleasant surprise, lots of traffic signals in between but no congestion. Big shopping malls (West Side was one of the fine ones) and no congestion. I had the time to dine at one of my all time favorite " dhabas " in Khapri - Drive In Restaurant. Though the management has changed (my old favorite cook " Bahaddur " was no longer there), the food was good with prawns and all... The most pleasant surprise was the Ophthalmology team from Sewagram, Dr. Mrs. Shukla, Dr. Mehta (Dr. V. K. Mehta's son), the reader and lecturer respectively, and 4 PG students, I am told there are now 6 PG students in Ophthalmology there now. Those of us who have worked in the Ophthalmology department will remember Krishna, Mrs. Taksande, Om Pal the refractionist, they are all (still) there... I also came to know that there are phaco machines, LASERs, and what not. At our time we did not even have an operating microscope! So my dear friends, things have changed, changed a lot in the last 13 yrs since I left Sewagram. I was itching to visit my beloved college, but due to time constraints... So now, I eagerly await our batch's reunion in 2007, unfortunately there are simply too few 82 batch people on the mailing list, those who are, rarely respond. I hope things will change by then... (hey Amulya, Sangeeta, Seema, Noel - are you listening?) Ravin '
