Guest guest
Throughout this whole ordeal, I have decided I am going to teach a class at all of the Schools of Medicine entitled " Things Your Patient REALLY Does Not Want to Hear " 1. When I was having my first tissue biopsy done a few weeks back, the doctor said " Get me a needle. " Nurse states " 22 gauge? " Doctor states " Oh no -- we will need a bigger needle than that. " (NOT something I wanted to hear). 2. Having my bone biopsy and I opted for no sedation. Doctor says to nurse --- need bigger than an 18 gauge needle -- get me a 13 gauge. (By now I know the smaller the gauge, the bigger around the needle). 3. And finally, when they were splinting my finger after the bone biopsy, Dr. says to keep the splint on until otherwise told because " I told a big enough chunk of bone out that if you were to hit it hard on something, it might fracture. " When I questioned how big, he said about as big around as an eraser head. Gross.
