Guest guest
About three months ago, my left ring finger started swelling up. It developed a little red knot on the left side right below the nail. About two weeks ago, I could not bend it enough to write and it became increasingly sore. I have feeling at the tip and all the way down. It is normal size from the middle joint to the knuckle -- just swollen from the middle joint upwards. I went to the Dr. and he said " I have never seen anything like this " I went to get an MRI. The radiologist said it looked like an infection in the finger that is affecting the bone. The doctor had his partners look at the MRI and x-rays and none of them had seen anything like it. (These are well know orthopedics in town) So, they have arranged for me to have an appointment at Duke University Medical Center with a specialist. Of course, the word amputation was thrown out in " possible treatment " Can anyone help me? Any ideas? Has anyone ever had a bone infection and it be cured without amputation. Guest guest
I have no experience here, but just let me say that if they fear it will spread, take the finger off quick. I would have had my head amputated a long time ago if it wouldn't have killed me. > > About three months ago, my left ring finger started swelling up. Guest guest
P.S. It's quite possible that amputation would be the safest thing to prevent spreading the infection. However, if you have other illness symptoms, it could be that you've got osteomyelitis in other, less easily detectable areas of your body, and the treatment of your finger could help the rest of your body and health as well. I suppose it depends on whether you have other signs of a chronic infectious condition. penny > > The radiologist said it looked like an > > infection in the finger that is affecting the bone. Guest guest
There is also a folder in the files called " Understanding Porphyrin tests " that might help. > > Can someone PLEASE help me with the Mercury Test results I just got back from France.
