Guest guest
< 19/11/2005 5:16:42 PM > Greetings, I have been " out of sinx " for the past two weeks, but now trying to catch up with the conversations through both the website and my email updates. I am kind of at a standstill. While at my last gen. doc appointment I was able to show that my doctor had dropped the ball on a promised antibiotic treatment . I was very diplomatic, but I could tell he was a bit embarrassed, so he dreams up this extreme antibiotic protocol that involved home health coming to my home three times a day and giving IV gentamyacin. Home health balked and wanted me to get a port put in because they didn't want to stick me three times a day. At that point I balked because this was all for a TEN DAY course of gentamyacin ? PLEAASEE. I don't feel I have a strong enough immunity to risk the port route right now, especially for a ten day treatment. After it was all said and done, the doctor probably knew it would not pan out and thus was why he went to such an extreme. I don't know if anyone else has ever felt that when they pushed the doctor's, sometimes the doctor's would appear to go along, but then the whole thing gets bent out of proportion? Then you realize the doc had no intentions of providing you what you thought was a forgone conclusion? Anyway........my trip to the doctor was the gateway for me to catch another infection. I was down flat for ten days, only getting up finally yesterday. Still foggy. After these spells it just seems to take so much longer for me to regroup and figure out where I was when infection interupted my world and time stopped. So next week it is already time for my reg scheduled appt. with the above doc and I'm trying to gather some kind of objective here. Here is what I believe his position is. He will provide me with whatever antibiotics I want as long as they require MINIMUM particiaption from him. In other words he doesn't even want to do the paperwork to recommend an allergy filter for an air conditioner (Only example for my descriptive purpose), so as long as I know what I want, when I want, how I want and can back it up with relatively sound logic....then he will write the script. So.........I'm fighting the cobwebs and I keep getting this nagging thoughts. Like the fact that I got this sinus infection a couple of weeks ago, even though I was on the zithromax 600mg and minocycline 200mg . That is my regular " anti-lyme " foundation. About the third/fourth day into illness, I added 800/160 mg of Sulfameth that said doctor gave me for last months' sinus infection. It worked last month, so I was hoping for continued success. I have not taken this antibiotic for at least two years. Day eight I started getting desperate. My head was only getting worse to the point I couldn't hear ,the congestion was so tight. I was probably in no condition to be deciding antibiotic traits at this point, but somehow decided to change the 800/160 mg of Sulfameth to 500 mg of Penicilin daily. After just two days on the penicillin, I knew that I was gaining ground. By day three I knew the penicilin did the trick. I'm trying to stretch the few pills left to make it till next tues. ( I just realized I have no idea where I'm going with this post.) (I think the fever is returning) OKAY...on a different note....While reading many of your posts I found myself confused on the gold standard of doctor's responses about whether or not you test positive while on antibiotics or not. Doctor Harvey told me that my Igenex results were inconclusive because my IgG level were really low at that time. (@250) He said that with that low of an immune level, I probably wouldn't be able to mount a response to the standard lyme testing. That is when he sent a blood sample to Bowen labs, and hence we receceived the high result as shown. That was when he started the IV rocephin.... My question is this.....Does the explanation that Dr. Harvey gave me sound plausible or was it just a load of crap? (smiling) I uploaded the two labs mentioned in the PHOTO section here. One was the Igenex result and the other is the Bowen Lab result. I wanted to ask if anyone would be willing to review them and give opinions. I appreciate any and all comments, even if you tell me to just go back to bed. That is about all I have energy for now. Peg Lanelle ps. Tony , I'm hydrating, hydrating and asprining !!!
