Guest guest
Many doctors can do LP's. Neuro's, radiologists, pain mgt, just to name a few. Only anesthesiologists can do blood patches. I would make sure you go to a hospital that has an anesthesiologist on call. Most hospitals have OB wards so there is always one there for epidurals, depening on how busy they are it can take awhile. I've had a difficult time in the pas many many times getting them to call an anesthesiologist to do one. Typically they try to do a caffeine drip, give you pain drugs, and send you home. I've had them tell me before you need to call the doctor who did it, this happened once over labor day weekend, LP was on a thursday, went to ER saturdy they said no call your neuro, had to stay flat til tuesday when i called them they said go to ER. I told her to call ahead because they already sent me away once. My point of telling you this is to be persistent. Ask them to at least call an anesthesiologist or a neuro down for a consult that way you can discuss whether to do a blood patch or not, it can get you further than just an ER doc who honestly doesnt see that mny spinal leaks, i usually explain blood patches to the nurses, my last one there were 6 nurses in there that wanted to watch.
