Guest guest
Here's what I used with great success last summer when we were tapering off. Magic brownies In blender or food processor puree 1/3 cup each honey or agave nectar, prunes and senna leaves (buy at HFS in tea section -- loose leaf) to a batch of brownies. If you are GFCF, use Pamela's or Bob's. I made up a batch and cut info 2in squares and froze them. Warmed up they are quite good. If my son had gone more than 1 1/2 days, he would get one at lunch and we usually had success that evening after dinner. One batch lasts a long time! This was modified from a recipe form my pediatrician who had recommended the puree as a spread on toast. After I made it, I realized there was no way my son would touch it, but it reminded me of another herb used in brownies many years ago... Guest guest
Yep - I think you could reduce by a teaspoon or two, but that's it. The batter will be very thick due to the prunes. They will be very gooey and fudgy. Better if warm - place in micro for 10 sec +/- Hi everyone, > > > > I so appreciated everyone's help last week, especially 's > extensive advice. > > > > Things were going really well for a while. Guest guest
I found Senna at 's health food store in the bulk bins. with the spices. $18/pound but 1/3 cup was about 50 cents. It was just leaves, and stems. 's is a small local chain, they have a wide variety of supplements. I'm sure it would be much more expensive, but there is teabags, Smooth Move. na CHRISTOPHER LOY writes: > Where can I find senna leaves? Thanks! Guest guest
I wonder if Slippery Elm would work in place of the Senna, but use less of it???? na@... wrote: I found Senna at 's health food store in the bulk bins. with the spices. $18/pound but 1/3 cup was about 50 cents. Guest guest
Interesting idea -- I've never heard of baking with slippery elm powder -- just in teas and smoothies. I'm glad the idea worked for you na -- you cook like I do -- a little of this, I've got some of that left, etc. Everyone -- please remember that the body can get used to senna so you don't want to use it for a long time -- but during that (very difficult) initial period of time when trying to get off of miralax -- it helped. > I found Senna at 's health food store in the bulk bins. with the > spices. $18/pound but 1/3 cup was about 50 cents.
