Guest guest
My mom took it to prep for a colonoscopy. She only took it for one day...actually I think maybe it was only one dose. And she had so much rectal burning and stinging that she said the experience of taking Miralax was worse, for her, than the actual colonoscopy... Guest guest
Actually, I did try it...not on purpose cuz I didn't want to mess up my GI tract, but I did take some...when mixing my son's, I got about a 1/4 of capful in my own water (being lazy and not careful)...about 5 minutes later I had to go!!! Bad. And, it wasn't comfortable. Burning, cramping, yuck! All day I felt miserable...tired but nervous energy at the same time. From that day on, I've felt like the World's Worst Mom because of what I'm doing to my son...but at this point, I feel like there are no other choices. Well, until meeting all of you! Guest guest
Can you amagine what they feel like taking 9 times the dose? This is the problem, these doctors are prescribing this at 17 grams without looking up the pediatric dose..........at 35 lbs. the dose is about 3 grams..........whether you're 2 or 92 they give 17 grams, cause that's what it says on the bottle, but this is the adult dose???? then when they don't go, they up it untill they do go? According to the fda reports, there are medical professionals that have reported cases of it putting the bowel to sleep per say................if it's suppose to go through fast so it's not absorbed this could be a BIG problem. Thank you for sharing, I think there are a lot of people who give this to their children, look on here to try to find justification for their already gut feelings that maybe they made a mistake. When they hear all the gut renching testimonies they become defensive because it HURTS to hold the responsibility that we as parents just gave something to our child that could have harmed them, when they originally set out to help their child. Guest guest
I'm trying to locate it. Mayo clinic has one on their website but I'm having trouble locating it.........I don't understand the 5-1 part? the dose is something like 2kg per ml times body weight per hour? something like that. I have it on paper and in an old e-mail I'll try to re-post it..............this is where we came up with them not giving the proper dose. Guest guest
I haven't taken it because it wouldn't give me an accurate account of how it affects my daughter. I am not constipated badly, therefore it would give me uncomfortable diarreah. But I can tell you that my daughter's BMs, which were once extremely painful, are now totally painless for her. I used to have to use Fleet on her. Now THAT stuff burns! The Miralax (generic) doesn't do that to her. And she has no side effects. This doesn't mean that some kids don't get side effects from Miralax. We are all very individual. And all drugs have side effects for some people. But in our case, all the other things we've tried have failed, whereas Miralax has worked beautifully. a www.kristinaseleshanko.com/baby.htm > > Actually, I did try it...not on purpose cuz I didn't want to mess up my GI tract, but I did take some...when mixing my son's, I got about a 1/4 of capful in my own water (being lazy and not careful)...about 5 minutes later I had to go!!! Guest guest
for those who complain their child has been perscribed too large a dosage...why not give them less? One of my daughter's difficulties (and at least one of the reasons why she is constipated without Miralax) is that she won't drink enough fluids. Therefore, getting the full perscribed dose down her is impossible. (My doc actually told me to give her half the actual perscription dose...but she actually gets about 1/4 of the perscribed dose.) My daughter is no longer consipated, so this small dosage is working. And she has no side effects. a www.kristinaseleshanko.com/baby.htm > Actually, I did try it...not on purpose cuz I didn't want to mess up my GI tract, but I did take some...when mixing my son's, I got about a 1/4 of capful in my own water (being lazy and not careful)...about 5 minutes later I had to go!!! Guest guest
It is not supposed to give you diarrhea. I believe, it is supposed to act like fiber; it absorbs water and, supposedly, does not go through the intestinal membrane, rather straight through you, with the water it absorbed, softening and bulking stools. Eating too much fiber can give you gas and large BMs but not diarrhea. Fiber (soluble and insoluble) and sorbital are two substance in food that promote healthy bowel movements. Your bowels also need good bacteria like acidophilus and the one in Culturelle. I was told to take it for 90 days to regulate my bowel movements. (I am constipated once or twice a month but have a bladder problem - not incontinence). I didn't want to take it but thought it is only for 90 days, so I took it. The day after the third dose I was constipated! Didn't go all day and was miserable. I read the ingredient again – poly something and a NUMBER!?! What did I put in my mouth!?! It isn't food – it doesn't belong in my body. My nephew has a stretched rectum and my sister has been giving this stuff to him for over a year and it makes me want to cry. Six months ago or so they started giving him riddlen (how ever you spell it). He was extremely thin and twitchy the last time I saw him and my mom, who sees him monthly, says he is a very nervous kid. By all means use it to solve the immediacy of a dangerous condition in children and adults. Use it as it is labeled – for how ever many days (NOT MONTHS) . But don't be fooled into thinking it is safe. How long has it been on the market? Where are the long term studies? It reminds me of silicone breast implants – it leaks into your body poisoning your systems and your brain (and it DOES pass through the intestines). My sister says her son eats fiber and that prunes didn't work for him. Since I was told to take it, and elected not to, I have discovered that, although I thought I ate fiber, I don't eat nearly as much as one is supposed to, and that is 25 to 35 grams! I had a fruit and flax smoothie this AM (I started making them daily since deciding NOT to take mira-poison. It had in it: 1 banana (2.8g), 1 cup frozen Blueberries (3.9g), ½ c Stonyfield organic vanilla yogurt (1.5g), 4 ozs Guava nectar (1g), ¼ c FiPro Flax (6g). I drank two cups (my three-year-old son had one cup) and that (two servings of fruit and all that flax) only equated to about 10 grams of fiber for me – or – about 1/3rd of what I should eat daily. If I have a sandwich on whole grain fiber bread (8g in two slices) I will have reached 18 grams for the day which means 17 grams to go!!!! Add a bowl of high fiber cereal (6 to 8g) and I still would have to eat another 9 to 11 grams at dinner – which means a lot of beans! I am finding that it is not easy to get the fiber I need to avoid taking mira-poison but I will find a way and I suggest that anyone taking this crap try, try, try again. If your kid eats a small apple he only gets about 2.5 to 3g of fiber – if he is 8 years old he needs about 13g. Water – don't get me started – my urologist said to drink half your body weight in ounces – so for me (160 pounds) I need to drink 80 ounces! I am peeing water now and feel wasteful flushing a toilet with no yellow in it. It is not easy and sipping doesn't work for me - I guzzle big glasses. Do your best with small kids – they will follow your example and if you refuse to feed them anything but high fiber food they will eventually eat it. My three-years-old son ate cold asparagus at 8 o'clock at night because he wanted a cookie and he didn't eat his asparagus at dinner. You might not be able to get them to drink more but you can get them to eat what ever YOU want them to. My son talks about having drank enough water cuz his pee pee is not dark - he is three and thankfully, has never had a bowel problem. Fiber might make you gassy – give it time – take probiotics for the gut. Get OFF the poison - get your kids off the poison. Although obvious I will say it - transition slowly - a little less mira-crap, a little more fiber - write out a plan - a menu - chart the amount of fiber in your meals - put is on a calendar and shoot for no mira- poison at the end of a three month period. Guest guest
where are you getting sorbitol? It can cause diarhea in some. One box of fruit pops had a warning on the box. Guest guest
We did use it, from a homeopathic provider. The information from the bottle states: RegeneRx (I messed up the name in my earlier post...this is the correct name) A FuturePlex product distributed by Apex Energetics, Santa Ana, CA There is no website listed...but I got it from the provider and we did use it with my son. I learned the hard way that you MUST mix it with some kind of oil, olive oil is preferred (more pure). If it's not mixed, it's too potent and will burn. Guest guest
I would be interested in researching this product!! Any thing that can help our kids!!! I also wanted to mention that we have actually seen positive results in our son's vac toxicity/viral issue's(sensory being the most obvious) and our other children also is "garlic". Garlic is a very affective natural chelator!! Since I started adding it to our families diets, my older kids have not had to use any antibiotics since. My husband always every year ended up on antibiotics. When he had an illness and no help with antibiotics working at all! He couldnt handle the illness and gave in to garlic treatment and is a true convert now!! Anyways, it is supposed to be good for metal/toxin chelating!!(if you dont mind the smell) Jennie wrote: We did use it, from a homeopathic provider. Guest guest
Another great infection fighter other than garlic is oregano oil. Tried that one yet? Tastes awful, but man! it works very, very well. One or two drops in a shot-glass size water, hold it in your mouth for a few seconds and swallow. Yuck! But, within minutes, you'll feel better. A friend of mine is currently using the RegenRx with her new daughter. The daughter was adopted and had been vaccinated completely. She's using this to detox her and is seeing slow, but good, results.
