Provided there is respect for 4S members I feel the more people that join regardless of whether they are afflicted with 4S or not is a positive. Especially with regard to health providers or those who are involved in the area of mind and body or holistic treatment. -rbanthro_pop wrote: I have been asked by a psychologist and a hypnotherapist to join our group. They do not have 4S.But they do have a patient that does. Absolutely yes! The more medical professionals that

know about us, the better. I am tired of my doctors

looking at me skeptically when I try to explain

symptoms to them.

I think that as long as they understand that 4S actually exists and want to learn more from sufferers, they should be allowed to join.On 3/13/07, escapingscorpio

MJ,

I think the more professionals that are involved the better -4S definitely needs to be put in front of the public eye.

I recently had a pair of molded custom earplugs made so I could use them with my IPod. The audiologist that made them for me was aware of hyperacusis, but not 4S.. When he questioned some of his colleagues, they too were unaware. He told me that I was more informed about 4S than those in his profession, and he was quite interested in hearing as much as I could tell him about my problem.

By the way, when he put the material in my ears to make the molds, the experience of total silence was "wonderful".

A skeptical yes,

I think you should find out more about them ie: what type of

psychologist they are, as there are some professionals that offer

logical advice, and if it's logical, then we've already heard it, tried

it and it hasn't worked, if they are here to ask questions then a

definite yes.
