Guest guest
Hi MJ, What I saw was put on after the wall was dry for a while, I don't think it goes on a wet wall... Sorry, not sure of the name... Ozone is excellent as is vinegar.. The ozone will get everything, even in nooks and crannies, that is what is nice about it... The fans are a good idea also.. What you don't want to pour down the block walls is anything with water in it... Such as bleach... The bleach would kill some of the mold, but then the water would help it grow again... If you could get vinegar down, it would work, or how about ozone, anyway to rig this machine so it shoots down the wall? That mold you are smelling is also in the air, don't stay in that area too long... It might also be wise until you correct this to wear a face mask when you go down there... We had a whole home development down here that had mold shortly after the homes were built... Many sued and moved from their homes... Mold is nothing to fool around with, it can really make you very ill... It may be adding to your Lyme issues... :-(( Take care, Jim > > > How is water coming into your basement? Through the wall? If this israinwater, then yes, gutters are a good start... Also, there is amaterial you can paint on your walls that prevents any kind low flowmoisture from coming through the wall, I actually saw this on a homeimprovement show a while back... First though, you will have to get allthe mold off of the wall, it has to be very clean... I don't recall thename of this product, but most likely carried at Lowes or Home Depot...And then there is this tutorial, maybe it will be of help... > > Hey Jim, > > Are you thinking about something along the lines of thorough-seal? Not sure of the spelling. > > I tried that, but it was a " stop-gap " as Lena says and didn't work because the water was still coming in. I have to get the water part out and I think the gutters is the first way to go to get it away from the house. > > I am going to get an ozonater to rent by the way. And the white vinegar to clean. Also fans going in the basement along with the dehumid. > > The one thing that I will do is seal the block. the SO says he thinks now the mold is probably inside the block (holes) which I think is correct. So I need something that we can pour down in the holes from the top of the wall where there is an opening. Maybe get a pressure washer and spray the vinegar in there? > > Haven't had time for the vinegar yet - just went down there tonight and it seems like I can really smell that darn mold a lot heavier now. > > MJ > > thanks for the tutorial >
