Guest guest
Bob, I have both babesia and lyme and have treated the babesia with Mepron and Zithromax. I did this 3 times for 21 days each time and seem to have some improvement, yet now am having terrible lyme symptoms. Let me know how you do, I have heard that people get violently ill on the combo you are gonna be taking. Good Luck Hugs Amy

Guest guest
I am going to go on meds for Babesia at the end of the month. It seems as though the meds flare up your symptoms in most cases. Do you think that I will be out of commission on these meds? Dr. , who I'm proud to say is my doctor, did warn me that there could be severe side effects. I am a senior in high school, and am planning to graduate this year. Do you think that these meds may make me unable to attend school? thanks,
Guest guest
Bob, I took 8 days of Cleosin and Quinine but I don't know what septra is. I didn't have any problems that I was aware of. I had a bout of diarrhea on the 6th day but I couldn't say it was or wasn't due to the meds. I didn't get any relief from the babesia or Lyme as far as the doctor knows. I took the meds around the clock so the time between doses was always about the same. I took Diflucan at the same time and acyclovir. Now I'm on Flagyl 250mg three times a day to be increased to 500mg three times a day after a week if I tolerate the 250mg which I have so far. I'm on day 4 of 250mg. I didn't find anyone in the group taking the cleosin/quinine. They were on mepron or something and all seemed to think what I was on was not the latest. Guest guest
Dear , My daughters are 19 and 20. Both have Lyme and were treated with IV and orals. They are doing WELL as a freshman and sophomore in college now and I KNOW they party too!! I was treated with Mepron/Zithro a for babesiosis and felt so much better and DID NOT have severe side effects. I am hoping you will experience the same. I think you will graduate just fine. Guest guest
Hi Gail, I ws just reading your post about taking 1000mg of doxy and ceftin. I know people usually take 1000 mg of Ceftin but I have never heard of 1000mg of doxy. Do you actually take 10 of those green pills a day or is it a different pill. I was once put on 600mg of doxy and everyone said that was a really high dosage. I would try higher though if I thought it would help. I hope you and your son are feeling much better and I pray for you every day. PS. I forgot; were you or your son ever on IV? -Val

My son was doing better, but we have a very difficult week emotionally, so I get sicker from the stress. I take the ceftin 2 in am, and 2 at dinnertime. I go back to see this dr. on Tuesday..I'll keep you posted. love, Gail

Then I will pass out information on Lyme with it. I already know what the finished poster will look like. Guest guest
Hi Mel & Terry, Babesia is another tick-borne disease, many of us are finding that the ticks that bit us are co-infected with other diseases, (as were the ticks.) While Lyme disease is a bacteria known as a spirochete, Babesia is a protozoa. Here is a web site that I found that has some good information about this disease: http://www.uri.edu/artsci/zool/ticklab/Babesia.html Here is a web page that tells the symptoms and the treatment: http://www.uri.edu/artsci/zool/ticklab/Babesia4.html Terry, I am so sorry you got this bad news on Friday, and I don't blame you for being angry. Nothing worse than finding out our bodies are invaded with unknown invaders that are making us feel very sick. I don't know very much about this disease and I hope someone on this list will respond to you about their treatment and whether it is chronic or not. I hope these web sites will hold you over in the meantime. Hugs, Marta - >From: " M T V " <bizimom4@...> > >What, pray tell, is babesia? Have I missed something here? >Mel > > >>From: rivrfolk@... >> >>I just received word Friday that i am positive for Babesia. This is >freeking me out. What's the treatment of choice.
