FINALLY after 3 weeks my NEURO called..not good!!!

Ok...I know I have complained about my Neuro...and I am sorry I did.

I should have realized he has more then just me and is busy. Yes

three weeks or so is a long time to wait for results that have been

sitting on his desk...but...HE CALLED ME TODAY!!!

I need ADVICE from my Chiari group FAMILY...PULEEEZZZEEE!!!

He told me first and formost that he does not see that I have TC. He

said that it is hanging where it should be. (PRAISE GOD) One hurdle

down. Well about the MRI of my lumbar spine...he thinks the Dr who

did my Rods, Screws and Bone plugs lied to me. Meaning that he said

he put Titanium rods in...when the Dr says they look like Stainless

surgical steel. This is maddning...cause the $$$ difference. The

Insurance company paid over 83,000 for my surgery...and if they used

the wrong thing..it only should have been less then 40,000. Plus with

me having Osteopenia...it will be hard to repair safely..they found

this out cause Titanium does not artifact on this special MRI..and

this MRI had all kinds of Artifacting..so he said there is no way it

is Titanium. So that part is that.

As for the Chiari...he said he wants to do the surgery..and wrote

orders for the surgery..and all I have to do is pick a date. He told

me the pro's and con's...and I asked if anyone of his patients has

ever become paralized or died, had a stroke etc. He said the only

thing he has had is a dura leak...so that is good right? Then I

asked what he uses for that...he said sometimes our own tissue if we

have enough..and othertime pig..I said I can't do that..he asked

why..Well I am Jewish. So he is fine with that. We talked about

everything.

He wants to do a Suboccipital Craniectomy, C1 Laminectomy, Possible

Dural Graft and a Lumbar Drain.

I need to hear from people who have had this done please!!!

Also..has anyone had Dr Raque from the Neurosurgical Institute of

Kentucky. My Dr has sent many to him and said he has worked miracles.

BUT...I am my PCP's only chiari patient he has ever sent to him...I

just need to know he is good. I need to feel safe..I have had to many

Dr's mess up..and now with my back and this possible messup with the

rods.

Sorry so long..I am trusting God...as I always do..I am a bit freaked

out now though.
