Guest guest
I'm getting a prescript from my doc this a.m. for Plaquenil, but can never remember the dosage! And going through all my files (which number in the thousands, I'm not finding it). Can anyone be kind enough AGAIN, to tell me the recommended dosage? THANK YOU! By the way, my doc insisted I have my eyes checked and I saw a great Opthamologist and he said that the whole eye/plaquenil issue is a non-point anymore. That in 20 years of practice and thousands of patients on plaquenil, he's never seen a single problem. That the whole issue came about because of the way they used to prescribe plaquenil a long time ago, and that it's just not an issue, but he's still going to do a number of tests just to assure there's no damage being done. Anyway, if anyone can tell me the standard plaquenil dosage and duration, I'd be very appreciative! thanks, penny > > I've added this link in the links section: > > http://www.samento.com.ec/sciencelib/nonimain.html > > and here's some info I think put out by some company that > markets Cat's claw. > > http://ww.rain-tree.com/catsclawtechreport.pdf > > I used these products in the 80's pretty exstensively - but > didn'[t have any lasting good or bad effects. > > I know that there are good and bad alkaloids in these > substances- but I never had any tendon pain - nor did I from HCQ. > > Barb > >
Guest guest
I just found that Sam Donta suggests 200 twice a day or 400mg 1x daily. So is this cycled or is it until it doesn't seem to be effective anymore? Also, Barb, I think you, or maybe someone else (maybe me?) had found something to take in conjunction with the quinolones that might prevent tendon damage (something I'm very concerned about with Plaquenil). I'd definitely be interested in taking it, whatever it was. Anyone remember? thanks, penny p.s. I'm doing really well, still plugging away at this jaw infection, but overall doing much much better and slowly getting caught up in my life. Got another sculpture commission too. Just to let everyone know why I haven't been around. Hope to be back soon. > > I'm getting a prescript from my doc this a.m. for Plaquenil, but can > never remember the dosage! Guest guest
Hi Penny, Our eye docs tell us the same thing. If I can take HCQ, I will. Just don't know what to do about the tendon issue, which seems to be one of those very rare reactions, if it is a real reaction. I'll have to sort that out. My son takes 2X100 mg, but adults can take 2X200 mg. - Kate On Thursday, October 27, 2005, at 12:45 PM, penny wrote: > I'm getting a prescript from my doc this a.m. for Plaquenil, but can > never remember the dosage! Guest guest
Magnesium is the theory. I've been taking mg, but maybe not enough and I didn't start before the HCQ. Of, course, that is just one idea. Who knows. - Kate On Thursday, October 27, 2005, at 12:55 PM, penny wrote: > I just found that Sam Donta suggests 200 twice a day or 400mg 1x > daily. Guest guest
Penny: There is no standard HCQ dose if you are mixing it with pther drugs- you will have to adjust it. There is a " standard " or DMARD dosage for RA patients - which is 200mg per day in most cases. The data your Opthal. is referring to is based on 8 to 10 year studies on Lupus and RA patients on HCQ and the " safe dose " based on these data is under 400 mg per day. Make sure you know what you can mix with it safely.
