Guest guest
Kate, I did a search on Plaquenil and found the following neuromuscular side effects for this drug: muscle palsies, muscle weakness, and absent or hypoactive deep tendon reflexes. http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/hquine_ad.htm Another warned against taking it if one is allergic to hydroxychloroquine sulfate or any of the 4-aminoquinoline compounds. http://www.medbroadcast.com/drug_info_details.asp? brand_name_id=940 & dowhat=accept_disclaimer Samento is a quinolone, right? The quinolone versus quinoline issue again.....ACK! Good luck and best wishes, Mickie
Guest guest
Quinolones are derived from the parent compound of quilolines. HCQ is a quinoline. Cipro is a quinolone. Kate: Are you getting achilles tendon pain from HCQ? What dose are you on? And did the pain ever resolve after stopping Samento? http://www.chemicalland21.com/industrialchem/organic/QUINOLINE.htm http://www.chemicalland21.com/arokorhi/info/QUINOLONE%20CLASS% 20ANTIBIOTICS.htm > > Kate, > > I did a search on Plaquenil and found the following neuromuscular > side effects for this drug: muscle palsies, muscle weakness, and > absent or hypoactive deep tendon reflexes. > > http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/hquine_ad.htm > > Another warned against taking it if one is allergic to > hydroxychloroquine sulfate or any of the 4-aminoquinoline compounds. > > http://www.medbroadcast.com/drug_info_details.asp? > brand_name_id=940 & dowhat=accept_disclaimer > > Samento is a quinolone, right? > > The quinolone versus quinoline issue again.....ACK! > > Good luck and best wishes, > > Mickie >

I wasn't in the mood for being a lab rat at the moment so when I started feeling the same preliminary weirdness I had with the Samento (and ignored) I quit. I will try again later when I'm not so busy and can afford more to be a wounded lab rat. The weirdness I felt included tenderness in the tendons around my wrists, knees, and ankles, and a feeling of flat heels -- don't know how to describe the latter any better. It did start getting a little uncomfortable to walk. On my left side, which seems to be the most vulnerable one. It's been a few days now, and most of the weirdness is now gone again, except for a few twinges. - Kate
Guest guest
Are you taking a calcium/Magnesium supplement that's in a 2:1 or better ratio? And were you mixing anthing else with the HCQ? I think you were smart to back off till you know what's going on. Barb > > > Kate: Are you getting achilles tendon pain from HCQ? > > What dose are you on? No, I am afraid to take Calcium because I have this idea that it gets deposited all over our bodies in bad places. But I'm sure it's a complex situation that I don't understand. You really recommend taking them together, eh? > And were you mixing anthing else with the HCQ? No, the reason I tried it now is because I am in-between everything else. I forgot to mention that I also noticed unusual (for me) sleep disturbance while on it. I do feel that it caused a die-off because I felt all blechy for a day, which then resolved. However, I don't think the other symptoms are necessarily from die-off. I think something weird could be going on, and I am sensitive to it in some bad way. - Kate
