I take cortef for adrenal fatigue. I tested quite low with a saliva test.

Cortef has helped my energy--a real boost.

Can tell you more if you'd like more info.

AAAGH, they drive me nuts. I was told they don't have to prove anything. Ok, but can you show me where balancing adrenals with Cortef will cause them to atrophy?Anyways, what I was wondering is........I definetly see something related to my high D levels. I am not able to consume any amount of vitamin D without having my legs and feet go into cramping episodes. I imagine it is due to calcium being reabsorbed into my muscles. So I am still interested in that other protocol because of how it reduces D levels, so they say. I at times I consider making an attempt again with the Benicar for that purpose. My previous experience with the Benicar was not good, and I had extreme weakness. So weak that holding my head up was a chore and chewing food was exhausting.Recently I was just diagnosed with adrenal insufficency, testing done through Great Smokies. As was as low on the chart as you could get, barely scraping the bottom. Could this have been why I was so weak on the Benicar?I have read a bit of the stuff that has been posted in the past about Benicars possible affect on the adrenals and that those with adrenal insufficency may get into trouble while taking Benicar. I have been put on Cortef, should that make a difference while on Benicar? Will raising my Cortisol levels make any difference in the weakness, ya think?

Did you have this problem before you went on the protocol, or was the

fatigue (exhaustion) exacerbated on the Benicar.?

Benicar does shift hormones (and fluid levels) and IMO the

electrolyte balance. I think there are quite a few people

with hormone issues while on the protocol you're referring to.

I guess the main question is whether or not you think Benicar at

what ever dose you're taking - is doing something beneficial.

If it's not, then why would you continue taking it?

Barb, I think Mag. depletion is definetly a major problem for me. My

doc recently recommended a Mag. powder, that you mix with hot water.

It is called Natural Calm by Nature's Vitality. It is Mag. Citrate.

Appears to be much better absorbed because I herxed significantly on

it at first, even though I had been on about 800 mgs. of Glycinate

already.

I still have a cramping problem when I injest D. Doc has mentioned

IV Mag.

There is no way to know if the Benicar made a difference because as

soon as I added the ABX, the weakness, broadsided me. I didn't have

a problem with this kind of weakness pre Benciar. In fact I was at

about 85% remission then. Defiently was related and it took many,

many weeks to recover.

Why do these Docs prescribe Magnesium without calcium?

Have you ever asked? I've never taken one without the other.

My electricity's been out since Tuesday (I'm accessing from work)

and it's not looking good for the next few days (but I'm nopefull).

Wilma combined with a Nor'easter- and 50,000 Vermonters lost power -

there's 6000 of us still without it -

So I may not be on line this weekend.

In my case and from what I understand, calcium causes things to

contract, magnesium makes things relax. I am also very aware in

myslef that taking calcium causes my cramps to start right up. I can

take a calcium supplement and be up running around in the middle of

the night with my claves and feet tied up in knots.

So it seems that I may have an axcess of calcium in my system that

is ending up in my muscles. That's the part that fits with that

other protocol, hypercalcimia, possibly due to the eleveated 1,25 D.

I seem to have more then enough calcium, but then whether or not it

is making it to my bones is a whole nother question.

I haven't taken calcium in probably 4 years, mag only, when I figurd

this out. Cramps are much less, and removing the D has made even

more of a difference.

The magnesium is helping to keep the cramps in check, but I think I

realy need to figure out how to reduce the D.

That is why my doc has agreed with my feelings and believes I am so

depleted in magnesium that I can't even counter what calcium I do

have.

On the Lyme website, I think just this morning someone posted a

website that is all about magnesium. It's really good, and lots of

excellent information. I've been reading it, but there is tons to

look at. Depeleted magnesium may even be the explanation to my

ventricular tachycardia.
