Guest guest
Hello All i am a severely depressed aspie at the moment. im so depressed that my fella scared me and we've split up. i am currently on b6, mag, cal, milk thistle, b12 tablets with 100mg of 5htp per night. im taking the recommended dosages according to " Children with Starving Brains " . i cant take anymore than 100mg of 5htp (any more causes severe confusion). i stopped some supplements when the severe depression hit for fear that it was causing my abdominal cramps. It hurts whether i eat or not, no constipation or diarreah. i think the doctor will diagnose me with IBS on thursday, i have asked her for a trial on LDN to see how it goes. If she says no then i will consider going private when i have the cash (on disability benefits). i think my dyslexia is getting worse so might add in the fish oil. The only other change to my supplements is that my brand of 5htp contains malic acid and im also drinking 7up for the malic acid as well. A relative is having cancer surgery on Friday but im wondering what supplements/dietary interventions can help me through this? im in the uk so not sure if cutting out soy will be feasible or not? i am currently gf/cf/msg/aspartame/benzoate free. i have checked everything that i may come into contact with and currently none of it contains off limit stuff. i am chelating at irregular intervals (by irregular i mean not always every weekend as originally done) according to the AC protocol. Could this be the stall period? Shall i post this message on the chelation list as well? My anxiety and poor sleep patterns are back again. Before i was going to bed about midnight and getting up with little ill effects. Now im lucky if i get to bed before 5am! Any ideas what to do? im too scared to be medicated by the doctor, i nearly went literally mad on the risperdal i was on last time. is
Guest guest
alexis - poor you. It might also be linked to teh end of summer time, SAD can feel horrible. I have to start taking St 's WOrt about now and do so until Feb. It works a bit like prozac apparently, the only side effect is that it makes your skin more photosensitive. There are various Good Mood Foods too - basil is great. Or as you say might be linked to gap in chelation. Hope you feel better Steph x > > Hello All > > i am a severely depressed aspie at the moment. im so depressed that my > fella scared me and we've split up. > > i am currently on b6, mag, cal, milk thistle, b12 tablets with 100mg > of 5htp per night. im taking the recommended dosages according to > " Children with Starving Brains " . i cant take anymore than 100mg of > 5htp (any more causes severe confusion). > > i stopped some supplements when the severe depression hit for fear > that it was causing my abdominal cramps. Guest guest
Hi is This sounds a really hard time for you, so sorry you feel so bad. I wondered if GABA might help if you have anxiety too. I have recently started the supplement Adrenal Dynamite and I just thought that maybe if you feel stressed then your Adrenals will be too and antioxidants and Adrenal Support supplements could be useful. (This has everything in it already). I did some biomed testing and my results were pretty awful. They looked like someone who may suffer from SAD or depression and Muscroft our Nutritionist recommended a SAD lamp which goes on 1 hour before you wake and helps copes with the low moods of winter (I actually dont feel very depressed, maybe I've been too shattered for that!!) I thought this was a good idea and was going to tell my friend who does have SAD all about that. Like you say my sleep was not great and the results showed my melatonin profile all over the place, this is much better now. I am sleeping wonderfully and I feel better since the dietary changes and supplements have started. Vitamin D also good at this time of year in the UK. I am reading at the moment the Suzanne Somers book called Breakthrough. I really recommend it. She speaks to some leading doctors about anti-aging, good diet and supplements. She is very into bioidentical hormones. Also she mentions the Lifewave patches which can help with diet, detox, increased energy. I have some of these and am about to try them. I think they sound fab. I dont know if any of this is useful is but i wish you all the best. Luv Caroline xx

Could explain why im a little perked up today. Ive made a basil and tomato vegetarian (im not a veggie) pasta today. All gf/cf/msg/aspartame/benzoate free of course. i added basil to it in dried form so will try and use it more in cooking. > Or as you say might be linked to gap in chelation. i found the licorice root extract (could have been an adrenal problem)to be only slightly helpful. i increased to 2 tablets and found it to overload my system. > > Hope you feel better > Steph x thanks for your support Steph is

Do certain foods contain GABA? If not can you recommend a brand of GABA for me to try? > > I have recently started the supplement Adrenal Dynamite and I just > thought that maybe if you feel stressed then your Adrenals will be > too and antioxidants and Adrenal Support supplements could be > useful. i took 420mg of licorice root extract. i felt better on it and less adrenaline floating around my body. i took 840mg and found i felt worse. There is a warning about sulphites and soya on the brand im using(good naturals). > (This has everything in it already). Thanks for your support that encourages me to get better. The vitamin D sounds like a good idea. Maybe a glass of my fav rice milk (fortified with vit d)could help me? Im trying not to add supplements at the moment (or to drop ones i can do without) due to my stomach cramps. Breaking wind helps them as does alka seltzer sometimes. > > I am reading at the moment the Suzanne Somers book called > Breakthrough. I really recommend it. i tried the " building confidence for dummies " but IME it wasnt very asperger friendly. However the NLP for dummies book could be more beneficial to me. > She speaks to some leading doctors about anti-aging, good diet and > supplements. im hoping to give myself a better diet. i am almost organic totally now only a few items are non organic. > She is very into bioidentical hormones. Guest guest
There is quite a lot of evidence that the omega 3 long chain fatty acids combat depresssion ie EPA and DHA. I'll find some now but there is loads.
