,I reckon one answer could be ...if the blend in the gut becomes unstable , that is pathogenic microbes rule ..then when taking abx's that blend is reduced across the board ..good & bad are reduced together but the percentage remains the same ...so if they are not eradicated good & bad microbes will grow back in the same % as the original Hence the need to disinfect the gut first with none systemic drugs & renew with known prime flora ..

Aha, that seems like a likely model indeed. If I have time I'll see
