Guest guest
I agree...he says tell the truth...well he said he would go away if anyone else could start a fire with sticks...a number of people have told him either they did or they knew someone who did, but he lied again and still won't go away. We need to get rid of him!
Guest guest
Ditto!!You know, for a while I was all for ignoring . But now I think he should be banned. All he does is continue to write things that get other people upset. It never stops. It's too hard to ignore him. Since he will come back as someone else, I am for banning his ISP, which someone suggested but which I know nothing about. Barb

He's had his chance to say his piece several times over, and the more he raves on the less sense he makes, and the more tired we get of him. We gave him enough rope to hang himself, and he's pretty much done that, don't you think? The more we talk about him, the better he enjoys the attention, whether it's direct or indirect, so *why* are we allowing him that satisfaction? If someone can answer that, then please do...but I fail to see the point in letting him go on any longer...he's definitely overstayed his welcome. Guest guest
I have an idea. I think I will give it a try then talk to Steve and see what he says. I am about a hair from banning him. So if Toby complains to anyone know that this is my doing!! Hugs, in Texas (TnT) Give yourself a real pay raise. GET OUT OF DEBT! Guest guest
Of course has no evidence for his claims, Steve.... not many (if any) of us take him seriously. He's just an attention seeker. Attention seekers often join these yahoo groups. They are generally lonely people who don't have much of a life of their own which is WHY they are sitting on their computers so many hours and causing havoc in these internet communities. Some have had tragedy in their lives and were unable to adjust or may be going through an adjustment period. Some are suffering from incurable illness like cancer. Some are elderly and homebound. Some are teenagers who live in an abusive environment and are unable for one reason or another to socially interact in a more normal manner. I've actually personally met some locals like this and helped to re-habilitate one or two of them or give them friendship. One young man who was a regular on my BBS in the 1990's had an extremely abusive father who kept him locked in a cellar bedroom. I was the first cyberfriend he had ever met in person. He went to school but had such underdeveloped social skills that he could not communicate with the other students. And he was on the verge of suicide (which is why I knew I had to reach out to him). We chatted every day on the computer for over a year and I made him a co-sysop on my BBS and encouraged him in writing out his thoughts. We set him up with my BBS software and a computer which would run it at his home. That BBS was his doorway to the world and probably the reason why he did NOT commit suicide. We got him through his senior year and then, he left home. Today, he is alive and well! I get a warm feeling when I think that I might have been a small part in saving a life.... He is such a talented young man and has so much to offer the world! Another troll hit one of the Catholic lists I belong to. The list owner had a lot of grief with him and he really misbehaved in a lot of ways. I did a search on him and found that he was a 68 year old man dying of inoperable colon cancer. He was so sociopathic and angry that he would not accept friendship from me. And a couple of years later, he died. I would not have fought with him as the list owner did... I would have put him on moderation and just deleted the messages which were inappropriate. Still another troll is a member of a couple of my lists. This individual saw a beloved close one die of cancer - has never re-married or made another alliance. Has numerous psychological disorders. I have them on moderation and I delete messages which are inappropriate. And this individual is also nearing 70 years of age. Trolls, I find, are generally badly hurting in one way or another which is why they can be so annoying in a cyber community. But they do not mean this annoyance at all. They are reaching out in the only way they can right now, which often is very negative. Many of these people severely lack skills in face to face social interaction, and thus, the computer becomes their prime means of contacting other people. They are not the type of people one should be cruel or mean to because they are reaching out in their way. But it's not a good idea to take their constant flow of effluvia seriously either because that encourages them to continue seeking attention in a negative manner. That's why I just ignore them... which I feel is the charitable thing to do. Best to do with them is let them rant or put them on moderation and delete their messages until they learn to post more positive stuff, then, encourage the positive stuff but ignore the negative stuff. is human... if his jabs get no attention, he'll seek another route. I think it's always good to remember that behind every computer is a human being with feelings and needs and we never know what someone else may be facing in their lives.... they are here for a reason. Not to encourage misbehavior, certainly not, but to never stop loving that person and reaching out to them in any way we can... Just some friendly advice from Sue who owns 14 groups and has been a list owner/BBS sysop since 1986. (i.e. trust me, I have some experience with trolls and/or sociopaths...maybe A LOT OF EXPERIENCE with them? *LOL*) Re: Time to put up > I assure you that he has no evidence except for that which is either > public (the accident) or has already been posted here. Guest guest
I'm not discounting what you have said Sue, it can very well be all true. But I know for a fact that there are people who just use the computer as a means of entertainment. Ignoring is the best way but occasionally it does make a person feel better to just get it off their chest and then move on when dealing with someone of this caliber. I have meet these players that play online IN person - not just online and in groups. There was no basis for their playing such as a sickness, a death, etc. They were just mean people who enjoyed causing trouble. There are all types out there so I wouldn't put a label on any of these trolls as they have it tough in life, etc. Who is to say that they don't take it one step further and someone's life is in danger? Maybe I'm cold when it comes to that sort of thing but I personally have seen the damage they have caused to people in the REAL world when it was taken beyond CYBER. Give them the benefit of the doubt but I would be careful who to trust.
