With respect to the subject of snow, as most of you know I am a native New

Orleanian.

I was in the navy in the sixties and in late September or early October of 64

when I was stationed in Great Lakes IL. I was inside at the time listening to a

radio station out of Chicago. I heard the DJ state that there is " reported "

traces of snow in the Chicago listening area. (Note the quote marks)

I immediately rushed outside to investigate. Although there is once in a while a

lite flurry of snow in New Orleans, I had not seen any significant amounts of

snow and was anxious to investigate.

When I put my foot outside I immediately pulled it back in & shook off the snow.

I had put my foot in the piled up snow drift at the door. Looking outside all I

saw was white. I then (with my dry humor) asked myself: " IF this is 'reported'

traces of snow I wonder how it would look when it actually starts to snow? "

Granted that winter let me see more than enough snow. The following winter I was

stationed in West Milton, NY.
