Guest guest
The 64,000,000 question. It took six weeks to get the referral, now they called, said my appointment is this Tuesday, EARLY. My regular doc suggested I not mention CFIDS, and just ask for my nose to be cultured. (I've had a very low grade sinus infection that always manifests itself on the left side of my sinuses, and drips down my throat on occaison. Mainly it stays put... So after 3-4 attempts to get a culture swab done at my regular docs with no luck (at least I finally got the referral), how do you suggest I approach this ENT? I'd like to mention the possibility that it could be bacterial, fungal, and/or viral, but don't want to look like I'm telling him how to do his job. I just want results for once. Thanks, Dan p.s. Next month I'm set for dental cleaning -- scraping and all that (which I think just weakens the tooth). That's another novel...
Guest guest
Dan Watch that dental stuff. We actually know of people that had fallen ill and been bedbound from just simple cleaning.I think your approach to getting a swab is to say that often you get minor relief from some agents and major from others and you felt that that's why they do tests? or whatever? to check what works and what doesn't, because in life there's no one size fits all.In actual fact I will emphasize my favourite observation when dealing with doctors - make sure she's a female and that she is neat and proper- as opposed to flashy. These are the only doctors that really care about there patients and understand the need for urgent prompt care, one mentioning recently to a patient that she did not want to see her go chronic and she pushed hard from all angles not to let this occur. How intelligent of her to understand the importance of not going chronic.....Dan I personally think you've jumped on the wrong train with the ENT because most are only interested in simple plumbing- your doctor is also a goose because they know there colleagues beforehand and what your actually going to get.I do recall one doctor telling me of a psychiatrist that was big on shock therapy and he was laughing at the prospect of sending me to him. > > The 64,000,000 question. Guest guest
Why not ask your regular doc to call the ent or write a note asking for nose culture? > > The 64,000,000 question.
