Guest guest
Hello everyone! My name is Kristie and I am from North Dakota. I am 30 years old and a mother of 3 beautiful children. I am newly diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was VERY happy to be able to find this group to be able to gain knowledge of this pain that has overtaken my life! Right now the Dr. I see is not of much help and is not always willing to listen to exctly what I am trying to tell him. Fibro has made me feel pain that has made me nauseous and have actually lost 15 lbs. from being so sick. I am on amitryptilene at night but still cannot sleep at night. He took my pain med away saying that was what was making sick, he was wrong!I push everyday hoping that one morning I will wake up and not feel so bad and actually be able to work and have a good day and be able to come home and take care of my children without having to sit down and cry because I feel so awful! Well, thank you for listening and am relieved that I may finally be able to do some research and be able to find some outlook on how to help myself from feeling the way that I do! Feeling VERY discouraged, Kristie _________________________________________________________________
Guest guest
Dear Kristie, Welocome to the group. It is exhausting to be a full-time mother, as well as to work and combat this disease. One thing you have to accept is that you will need to set priorities everyday, depending upon how you are feeling. Another thing, as much as you want to be " perfect " at handling all of your obligations, you should not expect yourself to achieve that everyday. When you do have energy, and there will be days when that is true, cook a few extra meals and stock up on items that will carry you through the low energy days. Give each child age-appropriate tasks, making them fun, which will also help you conserve your energy. i.e. You could set a timer for 20 minutes and have each child put away, pick up or tidy up an area. Then, take a rest while they do it and when they finish, give them all a hug and a small treat. If you repeat this enough, they will all become your little helpers. To help me sleep, I take 20 mg every night of generic Prozac [fluoxitene], which has helped. You don't list your age, but your sleep problems may also be partly hormonal. That can worsen or disguise the fibro, too. Good luck. Hope to hear from you again. from a newbie > Hello everyone! My name is Kristie and I am from North Dakota.
