I know how you feel man. Skin sensitivity or I should say skin hypersensitivity is a major problem for me. It's interesting that requip helped with this. I've been thinking of trying a stimulant like ritalin also. As a matter of fact I may get one from a freind of mine who's on it and try it just to see the effect. I've been really depressed lately myself. I think the fucking AD's I was on really messed up my cardiovasular system and damaged my arteries and capillaries. I was a relatively healthy guy before I went on them. Now I have sky high cholesterol, elevated homocysteine, chronic pain, elevated sedimentation rate and according to a recent ultrasound norrowing of my left carotid artery. Basically, I'm one foot in the grave. Boy those antidepressents really did wonders for me!
Guest guest
yea, keep us updated your trial on ritalin if you do. is the sensitivty pleasureable or painful? just curious. yea I think it also messed up my metabolism, I used to have very high metabolism but now i feel very sluggish like if I have high estrogen in me. and my skin dont even heal right before my skin would heal without leaving a mark but now any small damage leaves a mark. Nowadays I still see those damn commercial on tv about depression, it pisses me off to see it how they play that slow music and sound like they are really concerned about our health. > > > one thing I know for sure is that it seems to give me fuller testicles and > also it seems to make the skin sensitiveity better (whether its good > sensitivty or bad) > > > Ive been really depressed lately thinking negatively that Ill never be able > to be normal again but tianeptine helped a little. > > I know how you feel man. Definitely painful. > my skin dont even heal right before my skin would heal without leaving a mark but now any small damage leaves a mark. Yes this is exaclty how I feel. There definitely is a relationship between skin problems and DA/NE. I read an abstract that shows that wellbutrin has actually helped people with psoriasis and exzema. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve & db=pubmed & dopt=Abstract & list_uids=12271115 & query_hl=3 & itool=pubmed_docsum I mean it actually helped there skin. While I was taking paxil and elavil I noticed that my skin became very dry and I would get these itchy crackly areas on the back of my hands. Also the skin on my penis became very dry. When I stopped the elavil somethin went haywire. My skin became hypersensitive and I developed a lot of tiny brown spots and little tiny red blood blister looking things on my chest and some on my genitals. What a nightmare. I actually think that I had a DA/NE deficiency before I went on the AD's that they actually made a lot worse.
Guest guest
I've noticed weird effects from tianeptine on my skin. When I was on two pills a day my skin and hair became very, very dry and my acne disappeared. I cut back to one pill a day and my skin has become less dry and my acne is still gone. I think my beard growth has slowed down too. Tianeptine has been totally bizarre for me and at times very uncomfortable, even a bit frightening. I don't think I will stay on it for too much longer. Sexually, it has done very little. > > > is the sensitivty pleasureable or painful? > > Definitely painful. > > > my skin dont even heal right before my skin would heal without leaving a > mark but now any small damage leaves a mark. > > Yes this is exaclty how I feel. Guest guest
man that sounds creepy. I havent been on tianeptine long enough to notice any serious side effect for me but I did notice red bumps on my arms while I was on the first time trying them but the second time I didnt notice anything, so I thought it could have been a coincidence. I guess any pharm drugs we try, there is serious side effects to consider since nobody really know what these can do to our bodies. thanks for the reminder > > > > > is the sensitivty pleasureable or painful? > > > > Definitely painful. > > > > > my skin dont even heal right before my skin would heal without leaving a > > mark but now any small damage leaves a mark. > > > > Yes this is exaclty how I feel. Guest guest
You never know what these friggin' meds are going to do. From what I've read tianeptine is supposed to have far fewer side effects then the average TCA. In fact I think it may be a tetracyclic and not a tricyclic. I'm not even sure that there is much of a differance. But in any case there are always side effects. They may be do to the inherent anticholinergic effects of TCA's. But the fact that it's clreared up your acne makes me think it's not as dopaminergic as we hope. In fact, SSRIs often improve peoples' acne at the price of normal sexual function. On the other hand, DA/NE boosting meds often make people acne worse. There is an obvious connection between DA and testosterone.
Guest guest
Hi , Sorry to hear all the suffering you are going through right now. I was looking for articles on ED at pubmed.gov and seen this study that linked " Men with total cholesterol >240 mg/dl had a 2.7 (1.5-4.9)-fold increased risk for moderate to severe ED " . http://tinyurl.com/m4k5h Dave > > > one thing I know for sure is that it seems to give me fuller testicles and > also it seems to make the skin sensitiveity better (whether its good > sensitivty or bad) > > > Ive been really depressed lately thinking negatively that Ill never be able > to be normal again but tianeptine helped a little. > > I know how you feel man. Guest guest
Hi Dave, Thanks for the link. The thing is I have no problem getting an erection. It's that there's a lot of pelvic/testicular/genito-urinary pain. I really think there has been some autonomic nerve damage and or arterial damage done. But there is no doubt that I need to get my cholesterol down. I was looking at some old blood work from about 12 years ago and I really want to work at getting my numbers back to those levels. I think I've suffered from a chronic chatecholamine depletion most of my adult life. I think there's some genetic factor at play. Prolonged DA and especially NE depletion may have led to upregulation of the adrenergic receptors. Particularly the alpha-1 receptor. This may explain mixed symptoms of low NE/DA and yet a hyper-reactivity to stress (fight or flight). That hyperreactivity and a stressful period in my life is what lead me to try meds in the first place. What a colosal mistake.
Guest guest
Yes, I'm sorry too, . Do you think you might have some kind of chonic inflammatory condition caused by the ADs? There is an LEF article about inflammation over here: http://search.lef.org/cgi-src-bin/MsmGo.exe?grab_id=0 & page_id=973 & query=inflammation & hiword=INFLAMMA%20INFLAMMABLE%20INFLAMMATIONS%20INFLAMMATORY%20INFLAMMED%20inflammation%20 V> >> > > one thing I know for sure is that it seems to give me fuller> testicles and > > also it seems to make the skin sensitiveity better (whether its good > > sensitivty or bad)> > > > > Ive been really depressed lately thinking negatively that Ill> never be able > > to be normal again but tianeptine helped a little.> > > > I know how you feel man. Guest guest
> Do you think you might have some kind of chonic inflammatory condition caused by the ADs? Yes, absolutely. I was feeling so bad that I was franticly bouncing around from clueless doctor to clueless doctor. I had all kinds of weakness in my legs and pelvis and on the left side of my torso and nerve pain in my left foot. But I was ignored. Finally, I said enough. But then after about a year I went to see fancy doctor Braverman in Manhatten. Initially, he had the typical smirky "Your just neurotic..." type attitude. But then he did all kinds of tests and his attitude suddenly changed. The SED rate was high for the first time in my life. The cholesterol and homocysteine were high. The QEEG showed a severe dopamine depletion. I tested positive for thyroid antibodies. Ultrasounds showed a narrowing of my left carotid artery and a cyst on my left kdiney and a vericocele above my left testicle. He was like "Hmm...this stuff shouldn't be happening to a guy your age..." NO SHIT SHERLOCK!!! For two and a half years I told probably twenty different doctors that something had gone wrong my body after I stopped the Elavil, particularly on my left side. I can only guess it's because I'm tall and thin and outwardly appear relatively healthy. For some reason they just can't seem to believe that I'm in physical distress! God I hate doctors!!! Guest guest
That's a good point. Most people don't realize that DA and NE not only stimulate their own receptors, but also stimulate eachothers' receptors. In fact NE has a higher affinity for the dopamine D4 receptor than it does for the noradrenergic receptors. By the way here's an interesting abstract on dopamine and male sexual behavior: http://www.jneurosci.org/cgi/content/abstract/22/21/9320 At some point I'm going to have to stop reading and researching this stuff and start trying dopaminergic and noradrenergic meds. I'm just really worried about making a bad situation even worse.
Guest guest
I don't think tianeptine is significantly dopaminergic. And if anything, it probably lowers noradrenaline. But I'm hoping it will correct any malfunction in my serotonin system. It seems to be helping with some things, but that may not be the case with everyone. -- In SSRIsex , paul821nj@... wrote: > > You never know what these friggin' meds are going to do.
