Guest guest
How about tianeptine and a dopamine agonist? I believe tianeptine increases dopamine activity in a round about way due to the acceleration of serotonin reuptake. The opposite of what an SSRI does. I have no idea if this is a safe combo, and haven't heard of anyone trying this. Luther > > like for ex. serotonin antagonist with dopamine agonist? , has anyone > tried these combination? Guest guest
Funny you should say that, Luther. I just started tianeptine yesterday. Just cycled off one month of dostinex and will cycle on and off dostinex (or maybe requip) while on tianeptine. If I tolerate the tianeptine OK, I will stay on it for about 6 months. I will also keep my T up around 850-900 ng/dl. I can't think of any obvious reason why this would be hazardous, but can't specifically recommend it, and anybody thinking of doing same should go through their doctor (and that goes for anything discussed on this board). My mood is up today and I'm starting to feel some drive and motivation coming back, but no effect on libido yet. But we'll see. Maybe I'll have my first manic episode, LOL. I'm convinced this is a gene expresion problem and it must be reversible. There's nothing wrong with our hardware, it's purely a software problem. Pray for me guys... Guest guest
Sounds like a solid plan, I'll certainly be praying for you. Did you or anyone else ever try Trivastal? It's probably pretty similar to requip/mirapex, but I wonder if it would be any more pro- sexual than those two. For all of you outside of the U.S. who can more easily get the servier drugs, I think I would give tianeptine and trivastal a shot. Too bad amineptine is over, I think with tianeptine it would make a very intriguing combo, both sexually and as antidepressants. > > > > > > like for ex. serotonin antagonist with dopamine agonist? , has > > anyone > > > tried these combination? Guest guest
Vornan, I really hope you finally feel a libido recovery. It's a brave thing to try tianeptine with a dopamine agonist. I'll be right behind you following your lead if something positive emerges. You are in my prayers every night...all of you guys are. Biker > > > Funny you should say that, Luther. Guest guest
I haven't tried trivastal, but it does sound interesting. It seems like, with the exception of wellbutrin, there has been a campaign to keep most pro-sexual drugs off the market. > > > > > > > > like for ex. serotonin antagonist with dopamine agonist? , has > > > anyone > > > > tried these combination? Guest guest
Thanks, Biker. How are things going on the abilify? Any changes? > > > > > > Funny you should say that, Luther. Guest guest
For me, Dostinex was very sedating whereas Tianeptine was more stimulating, similar to WB. So maybe it will be a tolerable combo. It's good to see your mood and drive have improved. I figure my libido decreased gradually over a period of 3 years, so maybe once the right treatment is found, my libido will gradually kick back in over a period of time. Good luck, we're all pulling for you Luther > > > > > > like for ex. serotonin antagonist with dopamine agonist? , has > > anyone > > > tried these combination? Guest guest
I only tried it for a week or so. Generally made me very irritable. I think one of the mistakes I've made is I tried other drugs too soon after stopping Celexa. I think it's important to give the brain a rest for a few months to see if you can recover naturally. I've been off all drugs for about 10 months or so. Currently I'm drinking lots of green tea, and taking a few supplements to try to clean my body out some more. At some point I will get back on a drug regimen, and give it another shot. Guest guest
Trivastal is supposedly like a better mirapex (less side-effects, more effective). It also have an alpha2 antagonist property to it, which would give a norepinephrine boost. It's something I might try in the future if cabergoline doesn't pan out. Cyproheptadine (periacitin) looks interesting too, but I wish it didn't have anti-histamine properties. I looked, and the only pure serotonin antagonist is quite pricey, and seems to only hit 5ht3. > > I haven't tried trivastal, but it does sound interesting. Guest guest
I've had some problems with Abilify. For the third night in a row I woke up at 3 am. and could no longer sleep. I can't seem to concentrate properly at work, it's like I was under a huge amount of stress all the time. Abilify has not helped me like I hoped it would. The only positive thing about it was the fact that in the beginning it gave me energy. I felt a need to do something meaningful all the time. But now I just don't seem to tolerate the side-effets. Guest guest
This looks intriguing to me especially now that selegiline is a transdermal patch. 6 mg patch plus standard dose of tianeptine? Seems like its worth shot, at the very least probably a very nice antidepressant combination. http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20040412/msgs/336766.html
Guest guest
I wouldn't recommend it. The 6mg patch is the equivalent to 20mg oral selegiline, which is very potent. So I would try that for a while before deciding whether to add something else to the mix. The patch raises serotonin by the way in addition to dopamine and norepinephrine. Many of the folks at Dr. Bob are on all kinds of crazy combos. I know of a couple that are on an MAOI along with an SSRI...a definite no no.
