I had my wisdom teeth out a couple years before going down - but I

already had some odd illness premonitions before that. I dont have

anything in my teeth but fillings, somehting like 4 or 5.

I have a full overbite, so when I was in 7th grade I had for several

months those metal clamps/bands on your upper molars that allow the

attachment of a tensioner during sleep, to slowly move your upper jaw

bone structure back. THen they took those off cause I was supposed to

get braces (for some thousands of bucks).

My conclusion at the time, from evolutionary reasoning (NOT

necessarily correct - I dont know), was that orthodontics was just a

fancy cosmetic thing for which I personally had no use whatsoever.

The orthodontist (who I noticed gave out toys and had all this fancy

video game crap to buy cooperation from the kids) said that my

overbite would cause the tips of my lower central incisors to

contact, and damage, the gingiva on the backside of the upper central

incisors. I just didnt believe him and in fact this has not noticably

occured, so far, tho its still possible for the future.

So, those tensioner bands having lately been taken off, the day I was

supposed to get braces put in I ditched out of the house at 5 in the

morning and spent the day in the woods. I didnt have any more

orthodontics after that.

So thats just my totally un-educated picture of orthodontics. NOT to

say its crap, cause I dont know - ONLY that my very, very limited

thoughts and experiences suggest that those who are capable of

assessing its scientific rationale should probably do so before

signin on up for it.

bad antibiotic prescribing and periodental manipulations are highly

increased as has the rate of autoimmune ilnesses in the last 30

years. I also think that delaying birthing has also seen many

infants born to mothers with inflammation problems due to there

getting on in years. Then the vaccination russian roullette is all

you need to complete a shocking picture.I notice how the poor

survive these rediculous ilnesses in my neck of the woods- when they

are told route canal they go running due to cost.

I wish at twelve I had just screamed, " NO! "

I got the same bullshit about an overbite ruining my teeth later on,

and I had only a mild overbite--if at all--what IS considered an

overbite anyway? What is perfect, anyway/ I was perfectly fine. To

give me braces they had to perform oral surgery using ETHER as

anesthesia, to excise fragments of baby teeth in my gums, so they

could of course put braces on for 2 years and shift my teeth. I hated

them. I didn't brush enough obviously plus I ate junk food that was

common in our house. Off came the braces adn I was giving a lot of

fillings--I don't remember having any fillings before that. But

suddenly of course I had lots of cavities. ly i think all that

metal in you rmouth changes the saliva of your pH leading to cavities

(I mean the metal of braces). THey created a whole mess of problems.

I look back and I'm thinking, what WERE They thinking, perform

surgery like that for WHAT? And how stupid were my parents to fall

for it hook line and sinker?

So when they finally gave me a retainer, I just didn't wear it. I was

pissed off by the whole thing but it took a bunch more yeras for me

to start saying NO to doctors. At age 12, you just don't have a lot

of power.

My oldest daughter, unfortunately was in braces for many years due to

an " open bite " , supposedly the most difficult orthodontic problem to

correct. Her front teeth don't meet, so she can't bite food in the

usual manner.

Anyway, even after all those years (and two attempts) and multiple

retainers, her bite always reverts back. The sad thing is, we found

out that the people who have this condition are " tongue thrusters " .

Can't swallow without thrusting their tongue against their front teeth

(and yes, this is the case with my daughter). There's a simple device

that won't allow the tongue to thrust. That's all she ever needed.

Grrrrr.....too late now.
