Guest guest
As we know, many of us are cold. Ever since my infection started, I have been cold, though I am no where near as cold as I was when really ill, that was beyond a joke, everyone who shook my hand or touched my skin thought I was the walking dead. I still notice others are much hotter than I am. especially in the extremities. I have noticed that Sleep is very much affected by body temp, moreover head temp. If the head is not as warm as it needs to be, disturbed sleep is the result (for me) and as a secondary result, stress levels rise, Colon function is negatively affected (Im trying to put it nicely).. Etc. I have found that I will wake up at about 4 am, when head temp is slightly low, and I will have a wired feeling. I have tried all sorts to see what it might be. I have played with Thyroid hormones, sleeping tabs (err), beta-blockers. What I have found works, is eating oats very early in the morning, (6-7) then going back to bed allows stages 3-4 sleep. But even better, a night cap, (a hat - lol - not what you first thought...) a little reggae hat I have, if I ware that, I get a REALLY good nights sleep. It is quite amazing. No waking up, and when I do wake, I have been there. That stage 3 dream state, and if i just relax I travel further (within a world of crazy dreams) into stage 4. It is quite a lovely feeling awaking to the day knowing you have had the chemical realise that makes a new day and closes an old one. My hypothesis is that the hormone release is only viable if the head temp is high enough. bleu
Guest guest
Bleu, that's interesting about the hat. I slept in a tent for a month this summer, and found a hat very helpful for regulating my body temperature so that I could sleep comfortably. I've always been very cold too, but this last year I've been warm. Warmer than my kids, which they can't believe. But what's really strange is recently I feel hot all the time. This is such a change. I don't know why this is happening. It's not my thyroid, because my thyroid's actually running more on the hypo side than usual (which is normally associated with being cold). My inflammatory markers are up too, but when I take my temp, I " m still in the 97.7 range. I wake up with that wired feeling too, especially when I take too much thyroid hormone (that's why I haven't been able to increase it lately, to lower my TSH). I'm sure you know the thyroid releases a big shot of hormone in the early a.m. hours. But I also feel wired sometimes if I stay up really late. I start getting a really antsy feeling. You know, I sometimes think it's a precursor to restless leg syndrome. Do you feel that way when it hits? Like you have to squirm around, just can't relax? For me, if it's really bad, I have to get up and do somemthing. Read or check the computer. Then when I go back to bed, I can relax agains and go right to sleep. Bleu, what are your thyroid levels? Any chance you're on the hyper side of things? Especially with the high cholesterol and being skinny. You could be working in that direction, although of course there are always exceptions to what's " normal " . penny > As we know, many of us are cold.
