Guest guest
Interestlingly, I just read a paper where the cytokine profiles in Malaria were mapped between people who had hepatic impairment and those that didn't in Korea. Everything was equal between the 2 groups EXCEPT cytokine profiles. SEE REFERENCE " Serum cytokine profiles in patients with p. Vivax malaria: a comparisom between those that presented with and without hepatic dysfunction " Ruyal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (2003). Repost of #4763 see below: HCQ's been around - what 50 years or something- and they're just finding out it's modulating mechanism... and for some it works like a miracle , and for others Zip. Benicar's been around for just a few years, and while we don't know what all it's mechanism are - it's safe to say we do know that it's doing more than just controlling bp. Guest guest
Thaks, Barb. I meant to thank you earlier for the previous posts, the references were fascinating, particularly the microglia modulation. It seems like there's a pretty strong suppression of TNF-alpha in body and brain both, which under many circumstances could be desirable. I'm gonna look at this again later and see if I can find anything more - if I come acros something that adds to what you've shared here, I'll pass it on. > > : > > > > Here are a few abstracts about HCQ as an immune modulator - > > selectively supressing pro inflammatory cytokines. > > And like all effective drugs- it can have side effects- I've added > > one abstract at the end re muscle weakness. > > > > > > SELECTIVE cytokine regulation by HCQ > > http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi? > > cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=8336306 & dopt=Abstract > > > > > > HCQ as a microglia modulator > > http://www.immuno2004.org/onlineabstracts/2322.html > > > > HCQ side-effects (muscle weakness). > > http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi- > bin/abstract/110433649/ABSTRACT > > > > > > > > wrote in part: > > Barb Peck's done a masterful job of documenting the value of HCQ in > > alkalizing the cell compartment to maximize both antibiotic and > > antifungal drug action against bugs, but it also has an immune mod > > effect which I don't entirely understand. i think it might be an > > interesting one to look at.
