Guest guest
It might at least help if you are applying or taking other mineral sources. But the dentist said to use it topically and leave it on so I am not certain that something that is absorbed sublingually alone would do it. I use Mag phos for menstrual cramps, and it sometimes is all I need, others I need to eat almonds and cashews as a source of dietary Mg and the Mag phos is said to help with assimilation. Most interesting, Garnet! Thanks for this unexpected FL info. I wonder if the homeopathic cell salt, Calcium Flouride would have the same effect? Anyone? Guest guest
My dentist said he sees this type of softening of the enamel in older patients that are on a lot of meds that dry out their mouth. Points out how much we need to keep hydrated and rinse out mouths frequently during the day by sipping water. I try to keep bottles of water on my desk and bedside table and take them with me in the car so I remember to sip even if I do not feel real thirsty. I have heard that when you are actually thristy you are already dehydrated. Garnet > Thanks, Garnet. Guest guest
Thanks, Garnet. This really engraved on my mind the fact that it has to be topical to get the benefit. Guest guest
h202 definitely weakens the enamel. Most people don't know this. It will make some people's teeth senstive. He said he does NOT use Fl treatments and agrees that it is not good to use every day. But for this use he told us to apply it topically after brushing and not rinse it, do this every day for two weeks and we would see a change. And we did, and we use it once or twise a week now. He also said we could treat our teeth by putting it in the trays we had made for bleaching. The bleaching gel is a form of peroxide BTW, don't know if it is pH balanced and have no proof that H2O2 was the culprit but I did have one dentist come on to the Silver list and warn the list that H2O2 is too acid to use daily. Guest guest
Then why is H2O2 and baking soda recommended as a toothpaste in place of the regular fluoride stuff? Seems to me that if H2O2 weakened or softened the enamel, that people would end up with a lot more problems. --- CountryGirl wrote: > h202 definitely weakens the enamel. Guest guest
This was my attitude as well , until both my husband and I had the soft spots show up on our gum line. I had been keeping our toothbrushes soaking in 2% peroxide and use mine several times a day. I know H2O2 is acidic and that you can burn yourself with it, I use it in warm water for enemas and I once over did it and burned my colon to the point of bleeding. Mucous membranes are more sensitive that skin. I soak in H2O2 in the bath tub all the time and don't hesitate to use it, 16 oz of 35% tech grade for a 45 min soak. But you know your saliva could be less acidic than mine so you might not experience what we did. Guest guest
Baking soda probably would neutralize the aicidity, but I was told that I should not use it everyday. Probably because it is very abrasive. I don't like to use really abrasive methods to clean my teeth, I have thin enamel and well fine hair and thin skin, all come from the same germinal layer in the embryo. When you mention that your density is changed from MSM do you take it or put it in the brushing mix? I assume you take it orally but just want to be clear. It is too bitter to brush with, right? <smile> Garnet > I would think that the baking soda would neutralize > the acid in the H2O2. Actually, I mix baking soda and > sea salt. My gums and teeth have gotten a lot better since adding these. Fact is that it wasn't the H2O2 that changed my teeth making them whiter. Believe it or not, the density of the teeth changed I believe to the increased intake of MSM. Guest guest
MSM is taken in pill form. Note that you don't take it for dinner or before going to bed because it acts like sudifed in that it gives you a little boost and you can't go to sleep. --- Garnet wrote: > Baking soda probably would neutralize the aicidity, > but I was told that > I should not use it everyday.
