Guest guest
Gail, I've got a bottle of Flagyl sitting here and have been afraid to start it. That's because I've been feeling so well and have been so functional that I don't want to give that up yet. I want to enjoy feeling good, not immediately hit myself with something that's going to make me feel lousy again. :-) Of course, I am going to start it soon. I want to. It would be awesome if that was what put me over the edge into really conquering these bugs. I just need to get myself into a position where I can have some down time if it hits really hard. I've been trying to take care of my current responsiblities, plus so many things that I've let slide (over several years). A lot of catching up to do. The good news is, I'm not experiencing that typical high energy and then crash cycle that I and many pwcs have done most of our lives (I think that Myhill article on the heart/CFS connection has a good theory for explaining the cause of CFS crashes). I'm much more even keel right now. However, I'm not exerting myself hugely....taking it easy. Don't really have a choice. I'm severely deconditioned. I've been trying to jump rope a little, since benefitting from mild hiking earlier this summer, but it's difficult. I've actually found it easier to pretend to jump rope and go through the motions, because I don't have the stamina to jump very high or deal with tripping on the rope, so pretend jumping is working just as well, and will help me work up to a real jump rope. :-) Also good for my shoulders. Tony actually gave me the idea. It get's lymphatic stuff moving, helps build bone, is aerobic etc. And you can work up as you get stronger. It's a start. Plus, I " m in physical therapy for my shoulders where they're spending a lot of time making me do bicep curls, etc. Which I hate. They keep telling me they're going to get me " buffed out " , and I pretty much want to slap them. :-) I could care less about buff, I want to be 100% well! It does seem way more possible now than it did 6 months ago. So onward and upward, and that means cracking open the Flagyl. :-) penny > I thought it was the Flagyl that was th real kicker for Cpn. I am doing the Stratton protocol but having a hard time with Flagy. Bad arthritis flare when I use it. > Gail >
Guest guest
Yes, I know I am in the same position. Have been entertaining houseguests recently, before that traveled to Atlanta and about to travel again so like you I need the down time in case I crash. Also have cocktail of supplements that are supposed to help me detox the endotoxins. I have so many that it is hard for a brainfogged person to keep track let alone remember to take them. I know they help when I use them. DH brought home a palm pilot for me yesterday so I am going to see if I can. I counted 17 meds that I have to keep track of besides the supplements. Yikes. I need a case manager. --- penny <pennyhoule@...> wrote: > Gail, I've got a bottle of Flagyl sitting here and > have been afraid > to start it. Guest guest
Yeah, I know what you mean. If I won the lottery I'd hire a personal assistant just for giving me all my meds and supplements. (And probably a cook. :-) Not sure what possessed me (maybe the weekend with not major commitments ahead/), but I popped a flagyl today. I've been nervously anticipating some nasty reaction. So far, so good. Maybe I'll work my way up, just do a little at a time? I don't relaly know what I " m talking about. I guess I just wanted to see if I noticed any immediate kind of reaction. penny > Yes, I know I am in the same position. Guest guest
I took it for several days before the big reaction hit. I had pain in my knees that sent me crying over the phone to my Dr. Unbelievable pain. I guess I have Cpn infection in my knees. Had to take prednisone for several days to calm that inflammation down. --- penny <pennyhoule@...> wrote: > Yeah, I know what you mean. Guest guest
Penny: IMO- if you can metabolize it OK- Flagyl doesn't have as bad of side effects as Cipro.. Cipro's the one that has the tendon side effects.. but for some reason Flagyl is lumped in with it.. I'm not saying it's side effect free.. none are. Are you still taking the other abx too? Guest guest
Well, I thought I was doing okay, but definitely noticed a few twinges, in the knees as a matter of fact, and then my neck. Definitely feeling some tightness in the neck this a.m. I think I'm going to hold off on it for a little while, until I get a number of important things wrapped up. penny > > > Yes, I know I am in the same position. Guest guest
It's weird, I never felt anything but fantastic on Cipro (while it lasted). But of course later I had tendon problems. Coincidence? I don't know. Fortunately today, my tendons are completely back to normal but it took close to a year on the Benicar before that happened (and I definitely attribute the improvement to the Benicar). I've been trying to remember back when I took Flagyl before. I was traipsing around Europe, so must have been handling it okay, although I was so much younger. And I did have that horrible stiff neck for the first 3 days where I couldn't turn my head at all and no amount of NSAIDs helped. penny > > > Yes, I know I am in the same position. Guest guest
Barb, forgot to answer your other questions. Yes, I'm on at least 2g of penicillin per day, plus zithromax. Plus Diflucan again (got the prescript approved finally). Plus a bunch of Tibetan medicine. Plus some supplements recommended from the SpectraCell tests! Arghhh. I need a time manager! I don't want to change anything though, because I feel the best I've felt in years. I think I just need to get this heart thing straightened out, and I'm very hopeful once again that this disease can be beat! penny " Barb Peck " wrote: > > Are you still taking the other abx too? > > > > Barb
