Guest guest
Hello again: I would like to apologize to all of you for my opening comment " Since receiving the good news about the flu shot shortage " it was cocky and offended some people who do not share this opinion. My concern is that it may have prevented some people from responding and would really like to make this a quality piece of information that everyone can benefit from. I have already received a lot of great information I just do not want my poor choice of words to cause someone with some very good information to share decide not to. I will include my response below to the letter objecting to my choice of words, not the letter itself in the interest of privacy. At first I wasn't going to reply, but I think I will. I truly meant this as good news in the most loving and humanitarian way. I also think I have the credentials to do this. I am a Critical care Nurse Practitioner working as a Case Manager in a large Emergency Dept and Level 1 trauma Center. I have been in the profession for 30 years. 20 years ago I began following in my Herbalist Grandmother's footsteps after observing that allopathic just didn't work as well for some things as my grandmothers remedies did. I have gradually moved from there to the various other methods of Energetic Medicine and feel myself to still be very much student. One of the things I observe every year is healthy young individuals lining up for flu shots. I have never had one, nor has any of my children or family members with the exception of my father who has a chronic illness and I encourage him to get one. Maybe we are just lucky and maybe my remedies only help us...But I really don't think so... I know something about the Immune system and I know it needs to be nourished and allowed to exercises itself and develop important antibodies to protect it's host for 20 years from now when this form of flu returns again. Immunity from the flu shot will not protect you then when you are much more vulnerable, but your self made antibodies will. I could write pages about the immune system so I will stop here. As far as benefiting from this, I wish, if I didn't have a well paying job I would be out of luck making it on this side of health care. I simply love " Wellness " care over " illness " care and spend a lot of time unreimbursed providing what help I can. I truly do see this flu shot shortage as a good thing. they are not out of vaccine, simply short and this means those who really need it will receive it and hopefully the rest of them can begin thinking of ways to boost their immune system and be the better for it. I hope I can help those who wish to know those ways in a accurate and interdisciplinary way, thus my idea to ask the people on the lists I participate in as they are the smartest people I have ever encountered Sorry as well to upset anyone, it was not intended that way. Guest guest
, You did not upset me, for one. I don't know if the shortage is a good thing or not. For some individuals it will be, undoubtedly, because if the vaccine had been accepted from this mfr, some people would certainly have suffered consequences. In fact even with the best, uncontaminated, properly made flu vaccines, some people get the flu from the vaccine itself, and some get flu anyway. Of those some will be very ill, some will die. Maybe many unvaccinated people won't get the flu and may realize they don't need a yearly shot, and that would be a good thing. But getting the vaccine does not necessarily prevent anyone getting flu, nor guarantee they won't die of it if they get it anyway. It makes a whole lot of people FEEL safe though, whether they are or not. It is all a game of numbers, nothing is 100% safe, nothing is 100% effective. Yet the nightly news presents the story as if everyone who gets a flu vaccine is indeed 100% protected, and further they imply, though do not state, that the vaccine is 100% safe. It just isn't. Everyone must weigh the pros and cons for themselves. But I do wonder if this isn't yet another back door way to increase sales of the flu mist vaccine. It will surely greatly increase sales of that product, as the problems last year did. I mean, it has been known there were problems at that mfr in previous years, and the FDA continued to accept and use they vaccine made there. (THAT is SAFE?). At any rate, I have seen it suggested that much or all of the vaccine already accepted and in the system from that mfr, might possibly be contaminated. Not worth the risk, imho. But then I don't think the vaccine is all benefit and no risk anyway. Only those at severe risk of severe consequences of flu should be vaccinated anyway. But that is just my opinion. When my mother was in her last couple years, I HAD to get a flu shot yearly, or I would not have been allowed to visit her. Since she passed away, I haven't had the shot, nor ever intend to ever again. Circumstances beyond my control may change that, but I'd have to be forced into it. sol nvenzon wrote: > > Hello again: I would like to apologize to all of you for my opening > comment " Since receiving the good news about the flu shot shortage " > it was cocky and offended some people who do not share this > opinion. Guest guest
Thanks for the apology and explanation . Just to let you know I did not find it offensive. What I find offensive is that the sarcastic humor it was based on is so close to the truth of the vaccine industry. Testing is never adequate, mercury is added and then patients are told it is not until their doc calls and says he is about to give it to an Autistic child that can not have any more mercury -- then they admit there is still some in there -- off the record off course. No the sarcasm is not offensive -- to me -- it rings a bell. But I can understand how some might take offense -- easy to do on the internet where a full explanation may take time and must be requested. For this reason delaying judgment of someone's comment is wise, until we know their story we often judge other's only by what we know of ourselves. It is then that I have to ask why we take offense at all and the answer I come up with is fear. Fear that the sarcasm is right and we have been led down a primrose path to the belief that someone / anyone has all the answers to all the illnesses if we just . . . pay the right man the money for the right product. No to me healing is much more indvidual and personal than that. And there are always choices -- that is what is important. Some of us may have had bad experiences with a choice and reflect that in future comments -- that is valid feed back. Others have had great success and that is also valid feed back -- both are acceptable here -- even the sarcasm. I don't think health and healing are that cut and dried or " one size fits all " .
