Biopies of the leading edge and center of EM are frequently negative

(~50% average for multiple authors) by electon and immuno-optical

microscopy, however Pachner produced EM by inoculation of Bb into

monkeys. It would therefore be interesting to apply quantitative PCR

to EM, as Straubinger reported consistent results using this technique

on skin punch biopsies of chronically infected dogs, which I dont

think manifest EM (whereas 98% of blood PCRs on same dogs were

negative!).

Perhaps that could tell us how many organisms there really are in

primary lyme disease.
