It has been pretty quiet the last few weeks. I think everyone is getting

their last flings of summer in. I know we are here.

I took my 7 yr old granddaughter hiking this weekend and I am so proud of

her! She did a bit over 19 miles in three days, and 9.5 of it was in one day!

With a pack! Up and down hill the whole way! What a kid! Her pack had her

sleeping bag, her clothes and a water bottle. I am so proud of her I made her a

certificate of excellence and framed it.

I have not been keeping up on my AOM. I know, I am bad. I really need to get

in there and catch it up. I am keeping a log, just have not entered it yet

on AOM.

Way cool you are back on losing track! congratulations! And also on the

finishing of the trail!

Fantastic!

Thank you . I agree..it is a life time of good habits to learn to walk.

And I doubt she will forget these times. I am taking a 6 yr old grandson out

next week and we will probably do about 6 miles or so over a 2 day period.

Then it is a 4 yr old granddaughter. And the other 6 yr old the following

weekend, another girl. None of them can walk like this one but they still like

hiking with Grandma. Then school starts so that will be pretty much it for them

this year. We might do a little camping if the weather holds. We will have to

see.

Sounds fun to me. I am not a casino person either...work too hard for my

money! But I like to see people when they come visit.

Have fun at the Mouse!

I am still doing my AOM but have not been logging as many miles as I

want to. But this Friday I leave on my great expedition to Mt.

Langley, which is the southernmost peak in the Sierras over 14000

feet. I am excited! I have completed one overnight backpack and

this will be my second one. I practiced putting my tent up in the

back yard last night. Tonight I am going to pack. Tomorrow I'm

going to go through my checklist 5 or 6 times to see if I forgot

anything. Same on Thursday! The thing I'm most afraid of is

getting cold, so I'm bringing extra clothes I probably won't use. I

even bought legwarmers because my calves get cold at night.

I feel more fit than I have in 15 years, even though I still have

more to lose.

Jane, congrats to your granddaughter for hiking that far in a day,

at her age!

Wow, Jane, what a granddaughter you have? What fun the two of you are going to

have in the coming years. You two are making memories and building lifetime

habits for her. I can imagine how proud you are of her and how proud she is of

herself. Congratulations to you both!

Happy Anniversary, Laurie!!

W

where is everyone?

i havent had much time to get on the computer. i really only have

time on mondays-wednesday when my son is in preschool, but then soem

of those days i'm running around like mad trying to do the errands and

work i cant get done when he's home.

i woke up this morning and felt better than i have had in weeks. i'm

glad for that. i still have this nagging fatigue but it is much milder

now. i feel like i could mostly go do what i want now even though i

wont have as much energy as i'd like. i've gotten quite a bit of

excercise lately working on the yard and my brother's yard. it's been

frustrating because i just do a little and rest, and then do a little

and rest etc... but it was enough excercise to lose 2 more pounds.

if i keep it up and watch what i eat, i may finally go below 180 for

the first time in 4 years. I'm hovering at the 180 mark right now. i

thought i would be below 180 by now but the illness has slowed me down.

i've got 2 more months of nice weather to be outdoors. i am still

hoping to get in one overnight hiking/camping trip in.

oh and i put on my roller skates for the first time in 10 years

yesterday and it was scarey. i could barely keep my balance and i was

really afraid i'd fall down. i need to go get knee pads. my little

guy didnt really like the skating, so he took his skates off. we'll

try it again in a couple weeks. especially on a day that is not 90

degrees. my feet are so wide now because i'm fat that the skates were

really tight, hopefully it wont be much of a problem.

we've gone cool again, and i love it. i'm just not a heat tolerant

person any more. and to think it used to be 90 before i'd wear shorts

and now it hits 68 and i'm out there in shorts.

today is my 5th wedding anniversay and my hubby and i are going to the

movies and dinner while my son is at school

i hope everyone is having a great day

oh and Steve put a new post up on cure the mind
