Guest guest
But if these data are correct (which is faaaaar from clear) one would want to find out if the excess IL-10 signalling were preventing clearance of the bug. And if so one would want to modulate the immune system in roughly the opposite direction that benicar and HCQ do. IL-10 stimulation does seem to play a big role in Mtb's preventing its phagocyte home from committing apoptosis, at least according to one paper. It doesnt look like Mtb actively stimulates IL-10 by excreting a factor to interact with the host, rather its very lipids seem to do the job. I dont think the host receptor thru which this occurs has been identified. > > > > Interestlingly, I just read a paper where the cytokine profiles > > in Malaria were mapped between people who had hepatic impairment > and > > those that didn't in Korea. Guest guest
: The interaction is more complicated than just listing the chemicals that are pro and anti- inflammatory. Take a look at this site, and the quote below http://www.copewithcytokines.de/cope.cgi?007884 QUOTE The net effect of an inflammatory response is determined by the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines . It should be noted that the common and clear-cut classification of cytokines as either pro anti-inflammatory or pro-inflammatory may be misleading. The type, duration, and also the extent of cellular activities induced by one particular cytokine can be influenced considerably by the nature of the target cells, the micro-environment of a cell, depending, for example, on the growth and activation state of the cells, the type of neighboring cells, cytokine concentrations, the presence of other cytokines , and even on the temporal sequence of several cytokines acting on the same cell.
