Guest guest
, I remember reading this and I have it in my files but I don't think I have posted it here. I keep posting about Whipple's regardless but not many people seem as excited about it as I am. I have tried to get my ID doctor interested before but I think he was under the impression that it was primarily an illness of older gentlemen with intestinal involvement. I did have intestinal involvement but I am not an older gentleman (well, at least I am not a gentleman). I tried to show him studies where problems were mainly neurological and he was fairly open to the idea and was quite willing to give me bactrim (co-trimoxazole aka TMZ-SMZ) but I am allergic to Bactrim (throat tightens, I am not too willing to try it again), so I think we both kind of lost track of Whipple's. But I keep getting back to it, in fact I suggested to ID doctor to put my husband on co-trimoxazole (bactrim) last time we saw him. So he has been taking bactrim + roxythromycin for a couple of months now and after a bad first few weeks (even having to suspend treatment for a couple of weeks) he seems to be improving gradually (he still feels tired but his brain working steadier and better). I really need to be more methodical and focussed on this topic, and put together a plan for the next time we see the ID doctor in October. Even try a few things btwn now and then to infirm or confirm hypotheses. Head aches in anticipation of how much work needs to be done! Thanks for being interested .
