The OPTN/UNOS Transplant Administrators Committee met July 26 and 27 in

Chicago to begin planning for the 2002 UNOS Transplant Management Forum. As

part of this process, the Committee reviewed 15 abstracts that were

submitted by the July 25 deadline and considered for presentation as a

plenary or concurrent session. This process continues at the Committee's

next meeting on October 4, where abstracts submitted by the October 1

deadline will be considered for a 15-minute oral or poster presentation.

The preliminary working agenda for the Forum has Day 2 focusing on dilemmas

in transplantation, including financial, ethical and other types of dilemmas

that face those working in the administration of transplant programs nearly

everyday. Day 2 will be kicked off by the oral abstract presentations, so

the Committee is particularly interested in receiving abstracts that show

how a particular dilemma was addressed and, perhaps, resolved. Of course,

all abstracts will be considered.

Attached are the abstract submission form and a memo providing additional

information. These were previously distributed by mail and are posted on

the UNOS Web Site (www.unos.org). On behalf of the OPTN/UNOS Transplant

Administrators Committee, I invite you to submit an abstract by October 1.

Bill Van Vleck

UNOS Staff Liaison, OPTN/UNOS Transplant Administrators Committee

P.S. The exact date and location of the 2002 Transplant Management Forum are

not yet finalized, but we are very close to booking a site.
