Interesting. How did you prepare it, and how did you decide what

ingredients to put in it?

How thick is the salve, and what did you put in to make it a salve?

When you say tiger balm type, what are you referring to, what it is like or

what it does? Which is ...?

I started my comfrey/dmso tincture tonight.

Found the plant, wondered again what keeps eating it, noted snail slime

under one leaf, discarded this bit and that bit and ended up with a few

mutilated little leaves. Chopped them up and put them in the jar, poured

dmso over, and nearly jumped out of my skin when the dmso bottle hissed at

me. Gurgled at me. Great chunk of solid stuff in the bottle, with the

liquid at the bottom presumably being replaced by air which was sucked

through the white solid stuff.

Is this a demonstration of DMSO freezing at 65*? It's winter here and even

the kitchen gets cold sometimes.

Rowena,

I infused olive oil (use any oil you like) with comfrey, and chaparral (separately so I can use for other things, also make a face cream using these), then use bees wax to thicken. Prepare the menthol crystals. (be light handed, perhaps a tablespoon depending on how much you are preparing). I have forgotten how this is done, in water or oil, will have to find that out again (made this last year).

Use EO's like, Bulgarian Lavender, Cajeput, Cinnamon Leaf, Clove Bud, White Camphor, Black Pepper, Eucalyptus Radiata. Add DMSO at the end. At least that is how I did it.

Tiger Balm is intended to relieve muscle and/or joint pain, so use EO and ingredients that are for pain relief.

My salve is like a cream, soft and a very pretty green (because of the infused oils). I plan to make it stronger with my next batch.

Again, look for ingriendents that are for pain relief. There are more then I have mentioned.

Hope this helps,

Yep,

In the winter, I usually place my plastic jug of dmso in hot water to thaw

enough up to pour in my jar for a tincture. So goes cold life with DMSO.

Doug,

Do you know of a line of EOs that are assayed? I have heard of the Young

Living line and European standards, or perhaps it is voluntary testing

of constitutents.

Seems that none of the popular EOs have any real labeling information on

them and are at best misleading when they claim to be 100% Pure

Essential Oil. Of course they don't say which EO on the same line,

leaving you to assume that it is the one on the label in large letters,

rather than the carrier oil, which must be the basis for the claim.
