Welcome Eileen!

I really appreciate how Steve continues to inspire people with all he has done and continues to do. So many start out and help out people but then die out for lack of interest or some other reason. Yet this site continues to draw and inspire people. It is wonderful!

Oh group...I did my seven month weigh and measure....I only lost a pound but lost 4 and a half inches again bringing my totals to 36 and a half pounds, and 44.25 inches. YEAH me!

Good going, Eileen! It will take a lot of committment, but you can

do it. Don't forget to replace your shoes every few hundred miles,

or maybe more often. I looked at your blog and love your photos!

Thanks Elaine. I feel good about even the little, as I was very bad this month...I did not eat at least 2 days a week and when I did I several times ate VERY fattening things! lolol

that sounds great and sounds like you have a lot of dedication to the

plan.

have you recorded your gains each day? i was doing that on ellipitical

at the gym. the first time i could only do less than 10 minutes and i

finally worked me way back up to a 1/2 hour. i have been trying to do

the same on the treadmill, but i find it inconvient to write down the

data while walking quickly, i'll have to find a solution to that.

Eileen,

I just finished reading your first four days. Great!!!!!! Keep it up

and several months from now it will be stressful to even think about

not taking care of yourself. The food part is pretty easy too. Once

you get off the salt and sugar for a while fruit tasts soooo much

better. If you really need something from the junk food group opt for

all natural. Any foods containing " High Fructose Corn Syrup " should

be avoided like the plauge! The big problem with junk food made with

chemistry (HFCS) is that your brain never gets the message that you

have had enough. The hardest part of getting my eating in order was

learning what a portion was. Here is the trick...check what a portion

size is, have one portion no matter how small it seems. Now I am not

saying never eat an extra portion just wait twenty minutes. This

gives your body time to send the message to the brain that you are no

longer hungry. If you are still hungry after twenty minutes there is

a good chance you really are hungry.

NEVER skip breakfast! I start most days (Note Most) with the

following meal. One slice of All natural bread (No HFCS), with nut

butter (cashew, peanut or almond), all natural fruit spread and a six

ounce glass of fruit juice. It adds up to about 400 Kcal with a good

dose of fat and carbs, energy to start the day. Now here is the cool

part. Lets just think that we are counting calories and you allow

yourself 1500 Kcal/day. You are walking about five miles and that

equals about 500 Kcal! You are now negitive 100 on the day!

Oh, as you do this DO NOT GET DISSAPOINTED when you have a couple

weeks and do not see results. Even though you may not see it on the

scale it is still working. I will be looking in on your blog from

time to time.

Jane, I'm so glad the scale continues to go down, even if it is a little, and that you are losing so many inches. It's so satisfying to see results.

Thanks for the support and feedback everyone. (And thanks, a,

they are beautiful boys, I agree!) I am gearing up for my trip to New

Jersey tomorrow, and I'm hoping I can continue daily walks while I'm

there. I will at least do 5 days that week - that's my minimum goal.

I'm also considering trying to do some semi-drastic dietary changes.

I don't think I could totally go vegan (I LOVE meat, and am unable to

cultivate a moral abhorrence for it) but I like the idea of

eliminating red meat (not hard for me, murder for hubby) and sticking

with chicken, eggs, fish and legumes for protein. I am not a big soy

fan, so I'm not sure vegetarianism would work for me. Anyway, when I

get back I'm going to create a definite plan for myself, and I'm going

to start doing Sunday cooks for the entire week, so I don't have any

excuses to just " pick something up " . Maybe Sunday will be my day off

from walking and I'll just burn my calories stomping around the

kitchen! Anyway, I appreciate that some of you took the time to read

my blog...it's been a blast for me, and it makes it much easier to

" force " myself out the door if I know people are reading about whether

I manged it or not. Take care, I'll write when I get back!
