Guest guest
Welcome , , and family! I appologize for the delay in my replying, but since I took a vacation for Thanksgiving break, I am swamped with emails and trying to catch up. Thank you so much for opening your heart and letting us know your circumstances. It really helps everyone to know what you are going through, so we can all help eachother. If there is any way that we can help you with your troubles at your school district, please let me know. Sometimes, we can give you documentation that helps your district better understand MDS. My son, Tim, 17, was diagnosed with MDS at 2 yrs old. I had similar situations that you experienced when it came to the doctors just not listening to me. Once again, welcome to our family! I am so glad that you joined us! Please let us know where you live. If you ever have any questions, please do not hessitate to ask. Sincerely, Kristy Colvin IMDSA President IMDSA PO Box 1052 lin,TX. 77856 http://www.imdsa.com MOM to Arron 22, 18, Tim 17{MDS}, Stevan 16, and Garrett 7 The only handicap a person has are the people around them! Hello, My name is and I have a 5 Year old daughter with Mosaic Down Syndrome. My daughters name is . I am a mother of 6, with two handicapped children, and a 14 year old Son named Bruce with Asperger Syndrome -wich is Autism. My husband and I did not not find out that had Down Syndrome until she was 2 years old. Even though exhibited an inability to function at an age appropriate level Physically and mentally up until then , we were repeatedly told by nueroligists that was just delayed .. until they finally decided to do blood work. didn't walk until she was about 19 mos. old and didn't even sit up on her own until she was about 16 mos. old and this is what the doctoors considered a " Slight Delay " ... ( Even with severe Hypotonia,Slightly protruding Tongue and echolalia).... has since been placed in the public school system in a self contained classroom since the age of 2...I have tried to fight to get in another more appropriate program because she has some behavioral issues and the Teacher hasn't the experience to deal with nicely , here solution is " Rifton Chair " wich I of course said absolutely not ever..., but to no avail yet with the Child Study Team...I am currently having a difficult time with the Board of Ed... is Beautiful , she has very mild features of Down Syndrome , slightly slanted eyes, she has glasses and has had her Upper Teeth surgically removed from brittle Teeth...I will submit a picture at a later time.. loves to Sing and has a beautiful on pitch voice, she could actually do this proffesionally in the future if she can learn all of the words to the songs... is outgoing and loves people , she dances , draws and is obsessed with long hair and Tights..... is a very sweet girl , but also has another side ..She can be stubborn at times and very uncooperative, but what child isn't?? As I said earlier, Emilly has siblings, 14- Boy,10,Girl,9-Boy,4-Girl and 2mos. Boy...She is very active and loves going to the park...I know that I basically wrote you a book, but I wanted to give you a clear picture of our family and I am very interested in talking to otheres with the same issues, so If you'll have and I , we would be more than happy to join your Group..Thankyou and Have very Pleasant Holidays...
