Guest guest
a, Our daughter is taking the liquid. I don't know why - she can swallow tablets. The neurologist insisted on liquid. Have you seen cognitive improvements since starting the Carnitor? Wow - we have. It may be a combination of the Depakote and Carnitor, but she took Depakote for 7 years without Carnitor and we didn't see the improvements that we're currently seeing. I hope the fishy smell isn't a problem - It shouldn't be since she smells from the Authia anyway. It doesn't bother me anymore. Guest guest
Shari, I've never noticed a fishy smell. Fishy smells around here usually mean cod liver oil has been spilled on clothes but after reading the responses I see that others also smell a fishy smell from Carnitor. My best guess is that my son's body is not utilizing the carnitine. There must be some sort of metabolic process going on that creates the fishy smell. We haven't gotten the smell with homeopathic versions either so I suppose they aren't working either. I wonder what makes a fish smell like a fish? It must be the oils/fatty acids since cod liver oil has such a pungent smell. I've also noticed that my son has a need for riboflavin. I was actually quite proud as this was one of the few things I've been able to determine by observation with my son. When we saw Dr McCandless through the mini-DAN last year she added extra riboflavin to his regimen. Following BIOSET for these supplements his lips had a much healthier appearance but have gone back to being pale and sometimes cracked or red looking. Vicki > Vicki, > What causes the fishy smell? Neathery has smelled like this before and I'm noticing it again. I think it's related to the Carnitor - not sure - just a hunch. I also had to decrease her dosage because of hyperactivity - but, I can't believe the words she saying. And - she seems to understand her school work better and quicker. I'm just so sorry that your son is doing poorly with the carnitine since he needs it. We also use Pantethine to help with fat metabolism. I know that our drug handout for Carnitor said that it can cause seizures. Has he ever had an EEG? > Shari
