Guest guest
Most drugs that use the P450 system for metabolism are thought to use one pathway. But there are some drugs (called substrates) that use multiple path ways. There are also drugs called 'inhibitors' , that hinibit one path way, which in turn can raise the consentration levels of another drug that wants to use that same pathway for it's metabolism. An 'inducer' will cause faster clearance of a drug that uses the same pathway(s). HCQ is classified as an inhibitor of cyp2d6 inhibitor, and a substrate for cyp3A4 and 2D8. (And since these have only classifed recently, I bet there's more). There isn't much in the lit about Tini - but it's a close relative to metronidazole- which shouldn't interact with HCQ- but you can't be certain, becuase it's NOT exactly the same. It might be like DOxy and HCQ - for which there's not problems- but with HCQ and Mino there sure is a reaction (and I'm pretty sure HCQ causes higher consentrations of Mino in the body, because I had to decreas the HCQ or I had Mino toxicity effects (and I can normally take 200mg Mino a day till the cows come home - and I can noramlly take very high doses of HCQ as a mono therapy without side effects.). So- just becarefull and be aware that HCQ can interact with alot of drugs becuase it uses (or inhibits) multiple P450 pathways.
