Guest guest
Nelly: I'm not saying Babs can't be chronic - just that there's never been a documented case in the USA... and I know from experience, the conventional requirement is that they find one in a smear. I agree, just becuase there's never been a documented case, doesn't mean they aren't out there- I'm not sure anyone's even looking. I'm just saying- if you study Malaria- it becomes clear that with the milder form of Malaria, symptoms become almost indistinguishable from Babesia - especally if you have the blood profile (red cell fragments, anemia, Large RBCs - indicating high turn over rate) and a requirement is periodic fevers. So in my case- and especially since I responding so remarkably well to ARTEMIS and DOxy - that there's a possibility - in my case - it was uncomplicated Malaria... I have read where Babesia doen't respond as well to to the Malaria drugs. In your case- with the endemic areas you lived in you could have Babs OR the mild form of Malaria - especially since you respond to the anti-Malaria drugs - but with all the anti-Malaria drugs you've taken, I don't know why you haven't erradicated it.......... SO.. Maybe you ARE a case of chronic Babs. Right about one thing though- It's almost impossible to pin this down if the actuall parasite is NOT found in a smear.
