I know that for malaria p,vivax < 1% of the RBCs are parasitised and symptoms are mainly mild, and it rarely progresses to complicated Malaria (one of the sexual stages occur in the mosquito)... but p. falsoparum is another story - it's sexual stage occurs in the body so that's one one that can progress to coma, organ failure and death (and it infects a high percentage of RBCs- I think anything >than 5% and your in trouble). In Malaria 100% of the time you have periodic fevers - even in the case of uncomplicated malaria. I just don't see how someone can have Babs that DOESN'T have fevers.
