Guest guest
Yes, I should have not said " Dying " . I agree with you. Liver FAILURE. I have a lot of portal pressure. My doctor told me that with this pressure, if my albumen were low, I would " third space " , and develop acites. Re: firefly Having a low Albumin count doesn't necessarily mean you are dying. You have to figure in many other lab results along with that. And remember your ALB can be low one day and hight the next. Blood test are a picture in time. But when it comes to the liver you have to look at several pictures taken at once to determine the severity of the damage. Of course ascites is usually associated with a low albumin level but is not always caused by that.Although most patients with ascites have a lower albumin level. This is sometimes resolved by a paracentesis and supplemental albumin serum given through an IV. Normally the onset of ascites is a sign of liver failure. But does not necessarily mean the onset of death or dying. Ascites is a sign of liver failure. You can live many months or years in liver failure, which is dependent on many things. It is very important if you develop symptoms of ascites to report it to your doctor or go to the Emergency Room. http://www.emedicin e.com/med/ topic173. htm MaC ------------ --------- --------- --- Don't let your dream ride pass you by.
