Guest guest
Abijann, Thanks for telling me where my organs are in the CT scan. I haven't read these posts in a few days partly because I wanted to take a break from all this liver stuff and do some other things unrelated, and because I've been tired. I saw my hepatologist Monday and he said I am just a couple of weeks away from being listed on the transplant list since I've had most of the tests done and they're waiting for some results and will schedule a few more labs. It's kind of a pain because some tests I can have at the transplant hospital and some I have to have at my local hospital because of my insurance. It gets confusing. I gave him the CT scan CD my local hospital gave me for him, and he said he will look them over. I also had to go to the anesthesia clinic that day and also talk to another surgeon. I have to go to the Hepatitis C clinic soon too to start treatment for that. With the surgeon it was about signing a form as to what type of liver you want to accept. He said the best type is from a donor who is brain dead, and then there's a few other kinds like people who die of heart attacks, and ones who wouldn't survive probably but there still is brain function. He was throwing all these percentages at us and it was rather confusing. The hepatologist also prescribed some antibiotics that he said I should take forever. It is called norfloxacin. My gastro doc only prescribed a month's worth of cipro a while ago. I have to see him (gastro) tomorrow. He lowered my dosage of furosemide (Lasix) and spironolactone last week to 20mg Lasix and 50mg of spironolactone, but I think that dosage is too low now because I've gained 6 pounds in a week, and my belly is getting bigger. Of course, I've been hungry all the time in the last week too after going so long being nauseous and vomiting. Thanks again.
