Guest guest
I've been through this - to the tune of about $3000. Imagine the dentist's surprise and disappointment after I started filling the Water Pik with CS and H2O2 and using that on my teeth. I went from measurements of 8's and 9's down to 2's and 3's. Beth Toraason " Also be aware that dentists have a new gambit to which you may have been exposed . As part of your periodic checkup, they try to measure the depth of gum " pockets " by poking deeply with a relatively thick, flat bottomed, sharp edged pick. The immediate idea is to qualify you for gum reduction surgery (about $5,000). It definitely pulls the gum tissue further away from the teeth, and shears tissue already in an infectious environment. This naturally increases pocket depth for a later " I told you ... your gums are getting worse. " This is the dental equivalent of looking for breast cancer with cancer causing x-rays, or searching for gas leaks with matches. "
Guest guest
For what it's worth, I had not only the blood test but an intestinal biopsy for celiac disease several years ago, and both came out negative. By all means, have Becca tested, especially if it runs in the family. But the way I understand it (and you may already know better than me because of your father-in-law), you don't have to have full-blown celiac disease to have a wheat intolerance, so even if the test comes out negative, you may want to keep Becca off of wheat products for a while tosee if it makes a difference. I'll be interested to know if there turns out to be a link between that and the SSSS . . . maybe it would inspire me to be less of a "carb addict"! -Mayuri Message: 3 Date: Sat, 08 Apr 2006 21:44:48 -0000 From: "keenstop" Subject: Nortriptyline, Imipramine, and Ciliac DiseaseAlso, I was wondering if anyone has ever had a blood test for Ciliac Disease which is a gluten intolerance (wheat). My father-in-law has it and it causes gastrointestinal problems in him. However, it can also manifest itself as neurological problems. Guest guest
Kathy, I read the article about strep throat and I got curious about how many of us had issues with it. I had horrible strep infections as a kid; I never got to be in the Easter play because I was always sick at this time of year. I don't remember any sudden onset of symptoms, but then, I can't remember a time when I wasn't sensitive to noise. I also have OCD. Anyone else noticing these connections?Soundsensitivity wrote: There are 7 messages in this issue.Topics in this digest: 1. Re: Three new members! From: "" 2. Re: Three new members! From: "" 3. So we go back on 4/21 and I will keep you posted when she starts taking it.Also, I know one person was taking Imipramine and had not gotten relief after 2 weeks. Have you heard how she is doing now? I think I might have them test Becca for this...might as well take as many shots in the dark that I can...I might hit something. I took her off gluten for 4 days with no change, but then found out that the effects of Ciliac can last for months. I was just reading about how many OCDs have been recently found to be caused by Strep. The article that I was reading says that nearly all the patients say that the symptoms come on overnight...that they went to bed fine and woke up the next morning with a OCD. Sounds like SSSS. It says that it caused a compulsive fear of AIDS in a little girl who saw a hypdermic needle while visiting a doctors office...that visit was for strep throat. It causes damage to the basal ganglia part of the brain...couldn't it possibly cause the damage that causes SSSS?They treated these kids with penicillin prophylaxis and most of them improved tremendously. The website is www.mentalhealth.com and it is "Obsessive Compulsion and Tics Linked to Sore Throats."Just think it's interesting.Kathy Howe________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Message: 5 Date: Sun, 09 Apr 2006 01:47:08 -0000 From: "webintellect" Subject: Re: OCDs and SSSS and StrepHi KathyKeep up the good work! Guest guest
I really think there is some connection to strep. Who knows. Hopefully someone will figure it out soon.
