Guest guest
Hi L, Usually when a baby seems to be hungry all of the time it is indicitive of an impending growth spurt. It is natures way of increasing mothers milk supply. In response to the cereal issue, always follow your pediatricians advise, but there is a correlation between early cereal introduction and allergies. hang in there! Guest guest
I wonder if she is getting gassed up due to both formula and breastmilk. Breastfed babies tend to gain faster, but then thin out as they are able to digest the breastmik easier. With this easier digestion, they will want to eat more frequently. Also, if you decide to breastfeed, it will take a day or two before your milk supply will catch up for the supplemental feedings of formula. Good luck!! Irene samyalobue wrote: Hi all. Thank you all again for your helpful advice. I have a question about feeding. Olivia seems to want to eat all the time. The doctor told me that she is not gaining enough weight. She is supposed to gain 4-6 oz. a week. She was born at 9 lbs. 14oz. and now she is 12 weeks old and weighs 10 lbs. 8 oz. I feed her both breastmilk and formula on demand, but she isn't satisfied. Lately she has started spitting up, sometimes a lot (am I feeding her too much?). She seems to also be very gassy and crampy. I know when it's happening because she starts to cry, bend her legs towards her stomach and gets a really intense look about her. She then passes gas or burps, sometimes at the sametime. She also guzzles her food. I wonder if I should start spiking her bottle with baby cereal. Maybe this would satisfy her more. Any advise would help. Guest guest
Samya, I would seek the advise of your doctor. It sounds like she has colic of some kind. And, it is possible that the formula is not satisfying her. I know that I had to change formulas alot until I got the right one for my babies. When you say she is spitting up alot, do you think it is more than normal and that is why she isn't gaining weight? Some babies have reflux and that might be an issue with her. Let us know what the doctor says Kristy samyalobue wrote: Hi all. Thank you all again for your helpful advice. I have a question about feeding. Olivia seems to want to eat all the time.
