Guest guest
Thanks, Dan. This is interesting. Taking GABA turns out not to be very effective, in most cases. But drugs which act on GABA synthesis and uptake are in the brain are the main players in seizure control for me. For a while I was able to control clonus with Gabitril, a GABA reuptake inhibitor. Now I need valium which causes the total amount of GABA to surge. I hope to reach a stage where using nutrition for good " GABA maintenance " is enough to keep the nervous system from overloading like this. I sure appreciate your taking the time to share this. > > > > > I am watching the DVD's from a conference led by Amy > Yasko and > > > > Garry > > > > > Gordon. Guest guest
I agree . Gaba by itself is not too effective, but if your insurance would cover it (which I know is iffy), you might consider an amino acid profile (blood test). I had one done about 4 years ago (through Great Smokies). They test for about 30 different aminos and metabolites. I was highest in GLUTAMIC ACID, lowest in GLYCINE (which is also used for spasticity and seizure issues, and detoxing the liver). I have a jar of glycine powder, but always seem to forget about it, despite muscle fasiculations in my feet. I only think about it when it gets bad. Anyway, if you can find the book at your local library, it's definitely an interesting read. d. > > > > > > I am watching the DVD's from a conference led by Amy > > Yasko and > > > > > Garry > > > > > > Gordon.
