Guest guest
Nelly and Penny- I'm just catching up on emails and wanted to chime in on the Cpn and Wheldon/Stratton protocol comments from a few days back. I'm also having gradual and real improvements with this. I had quite a bit of herx, both with initial tetracycline (3 months), then again when I started the doxy/zithro part. I had initial immediate return of energy starting the metronidazole, but could only tolerate a few days and then got very sick, toxic and nauseous. I am finally trying tinidazole, which Wheldon told me some patients tolerate better, and seem to be managing it better. If this doesn't work I'll try Macrobid, an old urinary tract abx which Stratton reports has also has previously unreported bactericidal effect on the cryptic form of Cpn. The reason you might have had herx when adding the tinidazole after doing the cycline/lactim combo, is that the latter prevent replication by the organism, and drive it into the non-replicating " cryptic " intracellular form, ie under the " stringent " response to the abx, the organism defensively (those that aren't killed by the abx) invade cells (particularly immune cells and endothelial tissues) and go into a non-replicating phase where they are aerobic and not effected by the abx. They are, however, using up the resources of your cells energy-- especially ATP-- and producing toxic byproducts. Wheldon notes that Cpn has a protein which inhibits/prevents cell death of the host cell which would usually occur. The idazole kills them in this intracellular form. The herx from this (which I find is distinct from the herx from the regular abx) is in part from host cell death along with the sudden load of dead Cpn to be cleared. I was really interested to learn about the EnteraKlenz, since the other things I have tried haven't been adequate to help with endotoxin absorption. I'll try it once my credit card comes down a bit from all the IV treatments I've been getting lately! So have you tested positive for the c.pneumonia as well? I'm reading how you can get it as early as age 4 and how it's related to pneumonia, and about the drugs that are successful (which seem to work for me too) and I'm starting to wonder if this may have been one of my earliest problems. Then perhaps the staph and strep and pseudomonads (and whatever other unidentified pathogens I may have) managed to work their way into my bones and take up residence in my sinuses wreacking all kinds of havoc while remaining pretty much indestructible. Do you know how to accurately get tested for p. neumonia? penny p.s. I've ordered EnteraKlenz, which I've read about before and think sounds like a really good product. One serving has 10 g of charcoal along with bentonite clay. That's about 30 times the amount I get in one charcoal capsule. I'm really looking forward to trying this. Let us know if the charcoal helps you, and I will do the same. >> Yes Penny, I have been using a Wheldon/Stratton protocol for several months this time but I had used some components of it in the past. I am using as much of the protocol as I can, as I have had to also re-introduce mefloquine (lariam) for Babesia bec of returning heart sxs. >> >> The cycline + macrolide part of the protocol is quite easy to take and I am quite sure it is getting some job done (much better sleep and a kind of loosening of tensions in head) but the intro of the imidazole has rocked me quite hard even when using it only a few days in a row. It is quite interesting as I have used loads od tinidazole before but not in the same context ie after a few weeks on a cycline + macrolide regimen. >> >> I have also started taking the charcoal part of it more seriously lately taking quite a big scoop at night (not sure how much I am taking, probably btwn 5-10g per evening) >> >> I am taking sublingual B12 but no cimetidine >> >> Nelly >>
