Guest guest
All, My body temp is now at 95 - 96, I used to always be 98.6. Now very low. Cold/numb fingers/toes. Has anyone used Iodine to help the thyroid? I know you have to be careful with Iodine dosing because it is very toxic, some people say 1 drop a day in juice/water can help regulate the thyroid. Has anyone heard of this or done it? From: Cheryl Young To: Lyme_and_Rife Date: 01/22/2010 05:44 PM Subject: Re: Re: OT: The Importance of Raising Body Temp/Thanks, Cheryl! Sent by: Lyme_and_Rife Wow, , that's a keeper!!! I have kept quite a few of yours, but this one goes to the head of the class! Thanks for taking all the time to sit down and write it all out. You may find it interesting that Wood said last night that black walnut hull tincture would absolutely cure any thyroid problem! He was quite adamant about it. Said to take 10 drops 3x/day. Just so happens, I have some, so will start it as soon as I remember to do it! ;-) Thanks again, ! Cheryl On Thu, Jan 21, 2010 at 2:31 PM, wrote: Yea! You guys are finally seeing things the way I do! LOL!!! Body temperature is absolutely important! Your body temp is your basal metabolic rate. What determines the basal metabolic rate? THYROID!!! Thyroid also helps you detox, runs the cells, and increases mitochondria reproduction and efficiency which is where metabolism occurs. Metabolism = metabolic rate = body temperature!!!! It’s all the same thing! The article that Malinda posted – fantastic! He doesn’t really mention thyroid as the problem, but everything else is dead on! The ONLY thing I had a problem with was his treatment - seemed like a lot of expense! The deal is, most of what he was recommending was THYROID supportive! I know ya’ll think I’m crazy about harping on your hormones and especially thyroid, but it’s all connected! Let me see if I can explain it simply. It’s hard to do! This is the Kreb’s Cycle thing… The food and supplements and whatever else you put into your mouth becomes you. That’s the bottom line. The carbs, fats, proteins, enzymes, vitamins, minerals and water all are used to build you. Carbs go to energy or storage as fat; fat mostly goes to energy but some is stored; proteins go to build muscle; etc… All those nutrients go into making the different components of cells, hormones, fluids, etc.. I think you get the idea. The nutrients go into the Kreb’s Cycle to be processed into usable energy. The Kreb’s Cycle is the metabolism of the cell and takes place in the mitochondria. Mitochondria are influenced by thyroid – thyroid increases mitochondria reproduction (making more of them) and makes them replicate more quickly. The more mitochondria there are and the more quickly they replicate, the higher the metabolism, and thus the higer the body temp. So basically, thyroid hormones control the metabolism by increasing mitochondria numbers and replication rates. That means the Kreb’s Cycle happens more often and more efficiently. That means your cells work right and reproduce right. Cells make up tissues. Tissues make up organs. Organs make up systems. And systems make up YOU! (That’s 9th grade biology – my son is in 9th grade and just took a test over it!) So if your cells are working right, YOU are working right. This applies to hormones and neruotransmitters and anything else your body is made of or makes. If the cells that make up the glands and organs that make hormones and neurotransmitters are working right, then the proper hormones and neurotransmitters will be made! (Same for any other constiuent of the body.) So, is eating properly important? YES!!! The big no-no is sugar and refined carbohydrates. We know we are supposed to avoid it, but man is it good! Well, sugar is metabolized differently. Take table sugar (which is ½ glucose and ½ fructose)... The glucose part gets used mostly for fuel and glycolysis (which replenishes glycogen stores in the liver – a good thing). It also stimulates insulin production (which lets your brain know you have eaten) and suppresses ghrelin (hormone that makes you feel hungry) and leptin (a hormone that says you need to store energy [fat]). The fructose part does not stimulate insulin but does stimulate ghrelin and leptin! So in effect, it makes you hungry and tells your brain that you need to eat more and to store more fat and makes it easier to store fat! Another thing sugar does is competes with Vit C for entry into the cells. In essence, if you reduce your sugar intake you will increase your body’s use of Vit C! Vit C as we know is an anti-oxidant and helps clean up after the Kreb’s Cycle (there are lots of oxidizing reactions in the cycle). My bottom line on sugar is AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS! It does NOTHING good for you! We can survive without sugar. Increase protein and FAT to be healthy! (Read ‘Good Calories, Bad Calories: Challenging the Conventional Wisdom on Diet, Weight Control, and Disease’ by Taubes. Excellent book!) Sugar (primarily fructose) causes metabolic syndrome, which is diabetes, obesity and heart disease. We all know what those things do to us! Sugar basically suppresses the metabolic rate by creating an imbalance of the hormones. Not what we want to do! How does all of this relate to Lyme? Well, if your cells work right and your body temp is right it’s a lot easier to fight off infection! The higher your body temp, the more uncomfortable the bugs become because your body can produce the correct hormones and such to get rid of the bugs and their toxins. (Thyroid helps with the detox pathwyas too!) This is why I harp on you guys to take your temps and get your thyroid and adrenal glands checked and working properly. Everything you do is dependant on thyroid getting into the cells to make the Kreb’s Cycle work better and faster. The supplements and herbs we take go into the Kreb’s Cycle to make those reactions work, so that we can make cells that work right. Those cells make tissues, organs, glands (thyroid and adrenal) and so forth. That includes the thyroid hormones that make the system work better, by making more mitochondria so the reaction takes place more often! One last thing… Yes you can boost thyroid nutritionally. You can take supplements, iodine, teasel, whatever to boost thyroid. However, it takes a long time – sometimes many years. (It seems that teasel may do it more quickly, but I’m not sure yet. I haven’t found much research on it.) But, that is why I say take thyroid medication (T3)! It gets your levels up and helps you feel better NOW, not in 5 years! It boosts your metabolism and gets more mitochondria going so that you have more energy and can better process the food and supplements and herbs that we take! It helps with the muscle aches, foggy brain, headaches and all the low thyroid symptoms (Lyme symptoms). Sorry this got so long. It’s a very complicated process so it’s hard to explain it simply. But in my view it’s just one big cycle and everything you do affects any and every part of it. Just my thoughts… From: Lyme_and_Rife [mailto:Lyme_and_Rife ] On Behalf Of malindabross Sent: Thursday, January 21, 2010 10:47 AM To: Lyme_and_Rife Subject: Re: OT: The Importance of Raising Body Temp/Thanks, Cheryl! I really do think body temp is so important. Somehow I really enjoy the idea of making those spirochetes really, really miserable. But I think a word of caution might be in order. Just like everything else, taking it slow I believe is best. Too much heat too fast could bring those little boogers out faster than we would like. At first my son only muscle-tested for 1 drop of teasel daily, now after about three months it is one drop three times a day. I think this stuff is very potent.
